By the end of the season - ROBINSON ward and mcdermott (obviously Rhodes would be here but he's going barca in jan sorry)(plus gobern if he gets a run) current - arfield woods hunt and novak (and if were judging the past 2 - Miller by a mile - first 10 not so good.)

The Scottish midfielder arrived at Town 2 summers ago before last season for a fee in the region of half a million pounds. Are you a frustrated journo?? Who talks like that? For my money, Bennett's our best player at the minute. His consistent level of performance over a longish period has won / saved a lot of points. And what do points make?

Has to be Rhodes, but in terms of pure raw talent I'd say Ward or Mcdermott.

Johnson Roberts and Rhodes are the 3 most important players we have. Johnson cos he runs the show , Roberts cos he creates the goals and Rhodes cos hes scoring the goals.
Jack Hunt certainly isn't a weak link defensively ( will he ever stop being judged on his first few games?!!) and is the player who'll go furthest in the game IMO. Only a matter of time before hes in the prem.

No room for Novak on the list?
Strong, unselfish, honest, hardworking, goal scoring, goal assisting, good at holding it up and heading
On the way to fulfilling potential

Strong, unselfish, honest, hardworking, goal scoring, goal assisting, good at holding it up and heading On the way to fulfilling potential Deserves his cult status and doing a good job, but nowhere near our best player. His main attributes aren't as hard to find as those the likes of Rhodes, Roberts and McDermott probably have. Would say Rhodes right now, but from the little I've seen of him, McDermott looks to have the most raw talent, just isn't really a winger in my eyes.

Gary Roberts by an absolute country mile. Rhodes is special, Hunt is showing potential, Johnson is getting back to showing that he is the real deal and the rest of them are f*cking useless :udders: A few strange candidates, but Alan Lee

McDermott looks to have the most raw talent, just isn't really a winger in my eyes. Raw talent at what? The only thing he looks from the bits Ive seen him play so far, is a poor signing. If hes as good as people seem to make out, then he might want to start showing it!

No, it is only bits. I'd guess thats because he must be keeping his raw talent as well hidden in training as he has in the those 1st team appearences.
Are people saying he's this great player from 1 or 2 games against us for bournemouth? 2 words spring to mind- Junior and Mendes.

I don't see anybody saying he is a great player captain, just a player with obvious (to me anyway) talent and potential.

Junior was on a superb run of 6 goals in 6 games and playing well for us, then he went to play for Montserrat and they sent his brother back and I'm not sure he scored again?

Has he had one for us? Possibly Brighton away and the 2nd leg of the play-offs. Been a big failure so far despite many on here claiming he was the best player in the division at the start of the season. He was a class act at the end of last season. Not sure how you can devalue being our best player for the last couple of months of the season, into two good performances... and even those were only 'possibly' good?! 4 goals in 10 games for a winger is good going, particularly when his all round game was so impressive. We'll have to agree to disagree. When we signed him last season it took him a long time to get going and he was dissapointing compared to the Ward who I'd seen play for Swindon. He did up his game in the run in admittedly and showed us occasionally what he was capable of, just didn't do it consistently last season or this season. I think if he could learn to be a little less selfish he would come on in leaps and bounds. The 2 on 1 at Rochdale springs to mind where he refused to put through a better placed team mate and instead ran down a blind alley.

Theres that word "great" again who apart from you and the captain used that term? All i have said is he is talented IMO and shows potential.

The most talented, the most effective, or the most consistent, or 2 or 3 out of all of these?
Can I vote for Dean Hoyle?

Maybe you're right, but Im just thinking he hasn't actually done anything in his brief gametime, or presumably in training, to justify that. he needs to step up to the plate sharpish or he'll go the same way as Simpson.

Cas did I just read that right..did you say Rhodes was on for his 1st 20+ season? you missed his last two then? I'm pretty sure he hasn't scored 20 league goals in a season yet. I only count league goals as they're the ones that really matter.

I think Anton Robinson will become key to how we do - I really rate the guy. Has bags of energy, gets around the field and makes some cracking tackles. I have to agree with what someone said about Gobern, too. He'll be very impoortant for us going forwards, as well. We've two older heads playing in the middle at the moment in Miller and Johnson, both of whom have Premier league experience and, hopefully, what it takes to get us out of League One.
Best player and most important player are two different things, in my opinion. I think Johnson is our most important player at the moment, and, probably Jordan is our best player, in terms of ability with Roberts, Bennett and Hunt following closely behind. Scotty, for me, is vastly improving and have never been a critic of his - he's honest, hard working and dependable and is in the 'important player' category for me.

The idea of Lee being up there is a bit bewildering In terms of the current squad and how they're performing, it's hard to not have Lee in consideration as he's been playing great on a very consistent basis. We miss him when he isn't in the team.
