they had 2 of their better players missing as well jackson the captain and stevens. Charlton look solid, Wednesday are a worry me because they are big and strong and will pick up points when the pithces get bad because it will suit their style and watt who was at leeds on loan is a top signing for league 1 we ned to get tougher, glad the runs over, now we can concentrate on wins and not more drawsAnd not worry about losing?? :shake:

Charlton are a good side, but I honestly think playing live on Sky seems to make us nervous. It does seem that way.. I never expect us to perform in televised games. Arsenal was an exception in that we were massive underdogs and the pressure was off so we ended up doing really well after the first 25 or so minutes but whenever there's any sort of expectation it tends to end up being cagey at best. There does seem to be something psychologically amiss and you could maybe extend that to a lot of the homes games too, playing in front of an expectant crowd seems to make a lot of our players go into themselves.. Generally they muddle through and get some sort of result (even if it's somehow managing to snatch a draw from the jaws of victory) but rarely do we have a board full of folks happy at a commanding performance after a home game. It's a little bit like that feeling you get watching England where you know the players are better than they're showing but for some reason it's just not happening.

Posted this link on ITV just to shut up those that were saying you wouldnt have anything good to say about us. Respect is very refreshing in this day and age so I will endeavor to keep pointing that out to the less humble that lie within our ranks. As for the game, you had loads of possesion but we do tend to let the opposition have the ball when at home then slowly impose our game on them. We werent our usual incisive selves due to the loss of JJ but I thought the 2 late replacements done enough. We are big on fitness and I think that shows with the current method of getting a few goals, shutting up shop then scoring on the break...its predictable but if it aint broke and all that. You need a couple of hungry player, but overall cant see anyone but you and us going up autos. Your fans were superb, your team couldnt have tried harder...just need a touch more class. We'll do Wendies at their place so please return the favour. See you in the Championship.
Good luck.

Great to see you guys aren't bitter, I like to occassionally check up on the other teams analysis of the game on their various forums and see how they felt about us - its refreshing to find that most comments on here are praising the Addicks.
For all the criticisms a lot of you are having of your defence, I'd say they did a good job considering how little chances BWP was given - he generally always finds a way to sneak behind defenders and receive the ball 1on1 with the keeper, your defense didn't allow him to do so. In much the same way, our defence done well to restrict the threat of Rhodes and Parkin. As for the latter, it was clear he's not quite match-fit, seemed to miss most headers.
I was impressed by the noise from Hudders fans, and a decent turnout it was considering a) Monday night, and b) Sky.
As for Sky, somebody observed how Hudders may not have done as well due to being televised, I felt the same about ourselves. Thats one of many things I really hate about Sky broadcasting our games - the players seem to try too hard, or else get too nervous.
I'm hoping that your lot can gain Automatic Promotion alongside ourselves, Hudders fans on the whole don't seem as up themselves as, for example, Sheffield Wednesday fans (or Southampton last year), with their 'too big for this league' mentality (though admittedly a lot of Charlton fans are the same).
So here's to hoping you can put the defeat behind you and join us hopefully in The Championship next season!

Charlton are top on merit and have built a hefty lead which will take some making up. Fair play--they are a good club too. I was brought up on 1960's clashes between Town & Charlton,Pompey,Bristol City etc and want to be playing clubs like that again. We have to earn the right to play in 2nd tier but surely we deserve that ? Can't stand prospect of play offs again
