I saw them at sheff city hall yonks ago. Wasn't impressed, but then again we did have the shittiest seats in the whole house, balcony stage right, all we could see was a bloody great PA stack! and the sound was bab! however I do like the "Shake your moneymaker" album.
I reckon if they're still touring, they'll hopefully be playing the Arrow Rock festival in June.
If I was going to mock Primal Scream I'd point out that Gillespie produces far better interviews than he does albums, and if it wasn't for Weatherall they'd be NOTHING. THey have got a lot better since Mani joined though, and "Vanishing Point" is almost all good.
Whatever that album's called, it is dreadful turgid toss and the Black Crowes do that sort of thing much better. Even a Kingmaker fan like you can see that, surely?
I was at the age where I had to go along with everyone who loved that record but I always thought the whole thing, and especially Gillespie's wafer thin vocals, were a total embarassment.
True..and I bet most people, on first hearing it, thought "This is the Black Crowes, isn't it, but what the HELL has happened to their singer?!", thus rather proving my point.
The most embarassing thing on that record was dragging a crack-addled George Clinton in the studio with his false promise of "making it funky". Richard Stilgoe has exhibited more funk than that track.
i only own the Jairbird EP, with The Dust Brothers (as was), Weatherall, and Kris Needs mixes on, all of which are bosting as the kids used to say (in stoke), as the album is gay
