Date announced for the youth cup. Friday 14 February 7pm ko. I'm sure all your loved ones will enjoy a trip to the stadium. What a stupid choice of date. I thought the idea was to try and get loads of people to come?

I thought the idea was to try and get loads of people to come? No, Town want to annoy as many people as possible and make sure nobody attends. That is the sole purpose of their existence and is the only reason why this date and time was chosen. It can't possibly have anything to do with the other team, the FA, rules and regulations, or any other factor.

What's wrong with the date? If it's because it Valentines day and the GF/Mrs will moan you need a new one.

Would be nice to have someone to give me those problems...just feel a lot will be disappointed. Not just lads having to miss due to their lasses but families as well due it been a night match. There's probably good reasoning behind it...

Providing Town can overcome Manchester United next Friday, they will be away to either Manchester City or Fulham in the next round.
Also looks as if Town have signed up a couple of Irish lads for the academy/development sides. Ronan Coughlan and Tadhg Ryan, the latter being a goalkeeper.

Where you heard about the Irish lads Lordy? It's on Twitter mate. Put their names into a search engine, search tweets for last 5/6 days and it'll come up with loads of their followers congratulating them on their moves.

Have the Youth Team played much recently? I noted a couple of friendlies, but nothing much competitive wise, since they 'broke up' before Christmas. This could be a concern?! I hope they have played the U21's behind closed doors, in the lead-up to Friday's big game, to work on things?!
Some Man United background, apparently they have lost there last 4 or 5 competitive games. Star striker James Wilson has been missing with injury/illness, and will be hoping he is back, big, strong, quick, skillful, 2 footed & scores goals. Sean Goss is a classy left footed player in the centre of the park. Belgium lad, Andreas Pereira is there play-maker.
Don't think United will underestimate Town. If Town play to there best, and get 'at them' then I think they can turn United over. United's youth set-up is in disarray according to some Youth Team observers.
Hope a few fans make the effort & go down and support the lads, I'm sure they will all really appreciate it, in what will be the biggest game some of them have/will play in (potentially).

I wonder if they are training Matt Crooks to be a central defender or is it because we are just short of centre backs. He's played that position since coming back from injury.

@htafcdotcom: #HTAFC 0 - 3 #BFC (U18) HALFTIME: An uncharacteristic poor half from Top of the table Town, as they trail second place Barnsley by 3 goals.
Bad day at the office so far for our lads.

@htafcdotcom: #HTAFC 1 - 3 #BFC (U18) FULLTIME: Town launch a full scale second half attack, but the three first half goals were too much to overturn.

Sounds like they hammered them second half.
At the end of the day results don't mean a thing. It is the developed of the individuals that matters.

Is that the 2nd loss of the campaign?
Never mind. A good beating will give them some more experience. The 2nd half sounds like we shit on them but couldnt make the chances count.
Poor result. Good learning experience.

I went to the U18 game yesterday morning.
Barnsley were very resolute, keeping men behind the ball, frustrating us and not allowing us to get any shots away. Their front two were very pacey, and on several occasions they played past our two centre-halves and beat them, which is how they got through for their first goal. Aside from that, Town played it around fairly well, Billing being the playmaker at the heart of the midfield, even playing good balls through the air despite the wind being a real pain in the first half. Their second was a good header, but their third was disappointing – a corner to the edge of the 6 yard box, Guthrie came for it with arms raised, but it somehow went straight through his arms and fell to the Barnsley player behind him, who scored. But everyone makes mistakes, so it's not worth dwelling on.
Second half was more of the same, Town trying to break Barnsley down, with Holmes and Charles looking the most likely to create chances down the left hand side. Charles got through and hit the near post with a fierce low shot on one occasion, then Bojaj's goal came, a close range effort following a badly defended corner. Barnsley's keeper, despite having the stature of Phil Senior, had a blinder and made some fantastic saves in the second half and really kept his side in it. Decent performance in the conditions, just a bad result. Just got to hope we fare better against QPR next week!

Town's U21s are at home to Nottingham Forest tomorrow at 1pm, at Canalside.
