Won 3 2 with Sinnot scoring a cracking free kick. Lolley was superb and earned us a penalty which Sinnot converted however later took a knock and was taken off. Lopez made it three nil before half time however we struggled in the second half as Forest scored 2 and we ended up just hanging on for a 3 2 win. We looked a much poorer side when Lolley, woods and Wallace were all taken off as the youngsters replacing them were all poorer. Matt Crookes and Harry Bunn looked excellent going forward and hopefully will make he step up. Tronstad got stuck in and won balls through some tough tackling. Good result!

A long post about today's game...
Town set out with Allinson in goal; a back four of captain Sinnott, Wright, Wallace and Woods; Tronstad and Gobern in the middle of the park; Lolley on the right wing, Bunn on the left; Lopez up front, with Crooks following close behind.
We played a good passing game, building well from the back. Our back line was very organised, and their striker(s) couldn’t break past Wright or Wallace – even the youth players who came into the defence as subs were comfortable. We won possession well in the middle of the park, played some excellent football down the wings and into the centre, and if Lolley and Bunn could have either been more clinical with their shots, or could pick out a man in the centre of the box, we could have been even further ahead at half time. We were comfortable throughout the game, until Forest got their first goal with around 20 minutes to go and they started to press forward. After their second, Town pulled everyone back, and Lopez was our most advanced player, 30 yards from our goal, as we tried desperately to keep them out. But we weathered the late storm and got the 3 points we deserved from a dominant performance.
Of our first team players, Gobern played the full 90 mins, so he might still be behind Southern in the pecking order; both Wallace and Woods went off on or before the hour mark, presuming they will both be on the bench again on Saturday, unless Wallace comes into the back 3 (hint, hint, Mr Robins!).
//
It’ll be easier for me to describe some individual performances, so if you'll forgive me…
Gobern Played to his strengths in the holding midfield role, similar to the one Clayts has been playing in the first team of late, putting his long legs to use when making several good tackles. He also found himself as the main playmaker, spreading some excellent balls out to the wings. The more I watch Oscar, the more confident I feel with the ball at his feet, although he does invite pressure onto himself which can be very costly in first team games when it goes wrong.
Tronstad This is the first game I've seen Sondre play, and I’m really impressed by his performance this afternoon. Forest usually tried playing the ball through the middle of the park, and he was always quick to gain ground and close opposition players down, and more importantly, won the ball back excellently on numerous occasions. He’s very tidy with the ball at his feet, picked out some decent passes, and could well be a decent prospect for the middle of the park, most probably in the box-to-box role Hogg plays at the moment.
Crooks It’s good to see Matty playing again, in a more advanced role this week. He can track back and win the ball well, and looked good advancing into the final third with the ball, linking well with Bunn and Lolley. He had (arguably) Town’s best chance of the match after around 10 minutes, as the ball fell through to him clear of the last man; He ran towards the keeper and rolled it past him, but also past the far post. Sometimes he lacked that nous with decision making with the final ball, but he generally had a very good game.
Lolley This is the first time I’ve had a chance to look properly at Joe, as he struggled to get into Saturday’s game. He’s all left peg, but very, very dangerous. He was always one short burst of pace faster than the Forest left-back and always gained that extra yard when cutting inside, almost always ending with a shot, just not on target often enough today. He won the penalty doing the same – darting inside of the full-back towards the edge of the box, then running back across the oncoming defender – a definite penalty. It was a similar move that resulted in his injury. It didn’t look too bad, but it forced a substitution, Mullin taking his place. Hopefully he'll be fine for Saturday.
Sinnott Speaking of the penalty, here’s a kid who knows how to strike a ball – a superb penalty, stuck well beyond the keeper’s reach, followed just a matter of minutes later with an excellently hit free-kick from the left hand side of the area, sailing into the far top corner of the net. Playing at right-back again, he was solid both defensively and going forward, backing up one of Lolley, Mullin or Bunn well on occasion. Hopefully his short appearance in the FA Cup vs. Charlton doesn’t tar his reputation for Town fans. We’re dying for someone with his set-piece ability in the first team…
Lopez He divides opinion on here, he’s either not good enough or our Spanish messiah. Crooks played behind him, doing a lot of the work, and Cristian tried to feed off of him for the most part. But, he was in the right place for his goal, a close range poached effort, and that’s what he’s here for. The first team need a centre forward in the mould of Vaughan right now, but I don’t think Lopez is that man. When we were under the cosh, it was frustrating to see him piss and moan to the ref for not giving fouls, when he needed to be chasing down their men. Playing off someone else, he's a good player to have, but he's not going to be a scrapper.
Allinson Lloyd won’t make it at Town. It’s harsh to write it so blankly, but I can’t see him being given another deal, with the highly-rated Wilczynski waiting in the wings. He didn’t have a save to make in the first half, but he looked substantially less assured after Forest’s first goal, a poor goal to concede, when he didn’t know whether to come for the ball or stay rooted (see also: Alex Smithies). Not long after, a shout of “keepers,” but Lloyd was never going to make it, diving in feet first on the edge of the box, but the ball luckily span out of play. Their 2nd was also poor to concede (for the defence more than Lloyd), as they cut in from the right – Town struggled to put a challenge in, and after a ricochet, the ball found it’s way to their striker, alone in the six yard box with only Allinson to beat. He’s a keeper who doesn’t instil me with confidence at the best of times, and I’d imagine this will be his final year at Town.
It was certainly a good three points to pick up though, we were well worth it.
//
TL;DR
Town won 3-2. It was good.

It was certainly a good three points to pick up though, we were well worth it. // TL;DRTown won 3-2. It was good. I was at the game too & feel this is a very fair, accurate, in fact excellent, report of how things went. Town were very comfortable when both teams had their starting teams on the pitch. Forest were very disappointing, though to be fair, apart from a very quiet Jonathan Greening, they had what looked like a young, inexperienced team out, who stuggled to cope with Lolley & Bunn on the wings - you could hear the huge sigh of relief from their left back when Lolley went off just before half time, as this quite possibly saved his career, as another half hour of Lolley killing him would have had him a quivering wreck It was also the first time I had seen Tronstad play & I was pleasantly surprised at how he played. Not sure why but I expected an attacking, ball playing midfielder who wouldn't put a tackle in. What i got was entirely different, he was very good at harrying their midfield & laying off simple balls keeping possession on the whole very well & he was certainly not afraid to put a tackle in. I also agree about being very concerned about Allinson's communication & decision making - maybe it is something about the GK coach? The only area I would disagree with this report is that I like what I have seen from Lopez (not just on today's game) & would like to see him given more of a chance in the first team squad - I felt he worked very hard preventing them from building from the back, was always looking to make incisive runs & was in the right place at the right time for his goal, though it wasn't a particularly easy finish, despite only being a few yards from goal, he still had his back to it. I definitely feel there is a footballer in there, though it's beginning to look like the club feel they have seen enough & that he won't be given further first team opportunities. Crooks had a good game, though missed an early one on one chance & Wallace, Goburn & Woods all looked very comfortable. For my first viewings of Bunn & Tronstad I was very impressed, though currently Bunn (sorry couldn't resist it!) looks much nearer to first team duty than Tronstad. I also liked the look of Wright (I think!) at CB, though he didn't look as comfortable at the back once Murray & Woods went off. On a final note, Brian Horton was in attendance (think he may be involved at Doncaster now?) & there was, presumably, a scout from Orient. I can also recommend a superb meat & tattie pie at Canalside, & I was really pleased to see Vaughany having his photo taken in there before the game with a couple of young lads - Lillis brought him over & they were terrific with the boys, & Vaughan seems like a really nice bloke.

Anyone know what type of reward there is for winning the development leagues?
Is it a trophy? Is there any financial reward?

I didn't mean to be too harsh on Lopez, I just think he needs to be played with the right man up front, someone who can bring the ball forward and play the right ball to him, like Crooksy was trying to do yesterday. You are right, he did take his goal well and does have some ability, and in those couple of occasions where he almost got clean through, who knows what could have happened. I'm just not sure where he'd fit into the first team at the moment.

Those images were from the Academy under 18s game, not to be confused with the U21s development game which as I said is on the 10th of March.
