Sabiri playing well. Scored one and had one disallowed in the first 30’. I'm assuming the development squad play exactly the same formation and tactics as our first team. We've been OK, but Fleetwood have been decent and they have a player called Dempsey who looks pretty decent.

poor showing that by supposedly premier league players. Some good individual performances but not impressed.

I was amazed to see so many of the full age squad playing. I turned up expecting to watch a team of mainly unknown juniors. So, well worth the quid entrance fee. I thought Ramadan Sobhi looked to have potential but Fleetwood showed us how to get both the ball and men into the box - and the ball into the net.

He is very strong on the ball and he can't be any less of a goal threat than LDP or Mounié

That development game was awful to watch, there is very little point to them, Kachunga, Quaner, VLP, Mbenza & Diakhaby all played but showed little intent to forge their way into the first team, in fact they showed little interest in the game at all. Sabiri was the best of a bad bunch, though Sobhi showed some slight promise when he came on. Really disappointing and no different to reserve teams in the old days...I once saw Kiegan Parker score a hat trick at Valley Parade but he was total shite & looked so disinterested...mind you City looked like a pub team, so nothing much changes it seems.

I am sure the management team will be watching closely as we approach the next transfer window. I don't think Joey Barton will be on the phone, although a couple of the youngsters look promising.

I think you're right, especially about the promising youngsters, however, it's hard to say how far they have developed as it's easy to look good on the ball under little pressure and in such a slow game. That being said, my Bradford supporting mates are all telling me young O'Brien is one of their best players already & I reckon he must have something about him if he can carry a really poor, struggling team in senior football.

Where did I say it would define our season? These are players who we need to be putting pressure on the starting 11. Some were even signed to be in the starting 11. Yet they struggle against a league one side. I'd say my comment that it doesn't bode well is far from weird

What do you mean ‘bodes well?’. These games mean nothing in reality. Players don't run the risk of getting injured, don't go in for tackles, play at around 40% capacity, the result is meaningless. I appreciate playing half a dozen players who are squad players in a Premier League team should possibly be putting up more of a fight against Fleetwood but it really doesn't matter that much.

Then what is the point of the game? They could play at 40% in a training match It always just seems like a handy excuse that they weren't trying. It was the same when we lost these games in league one to conference sides etc. Were Fleetwood playing at 40% too? Surely this is the best chance for a player to force his way in to the managers thoughts. I very much doubt they intentionally went out there not to try. Perhaps the game was just harder than they expected

Well we didn't but if we had then it would have given me a bit more confidence that we have some capable players on the bench. I was kind of hoping that Mbenza and Diakhaby were just nervous in front of Premier League crowds and that's why they look so erratic but it sounds like they weren't much better against a league one side in front of 20 old men and a dog. The teams that do well have a first 11 that are constantly worried about losing their place because they have players snapping at their heels desperate to take their place. Our first 11 will currently feel pretty snug about their positions in the team being secure (Flo and Durm the exceptions)

Anybody seen this lad live and is he as good as the stats suggest? 17 goals so far this season. Vaughan scored in the Premier League for Everton at 16.

As an occasional reader, I found this thread difficult to follow.
Why was no name given to the prolific striker referred to in abstract, at least in the last number of messages?
I had to look him up.
Kian Harratt
I hope he maintains his promise and we all get to know his name.

That’s probably why nobody was referencing his name because we knew who we were talking about. 🤷♂️

You don’t need to be on Twitter. Can you see the ‘Tweet’ with a video in the post about 5 above? It gets quoted a couple of times, so it’s in 3 posts in a row. That’s what I’m referring to.
