And our players are thugs!
According to the numpty on the Brum Rivals site:-
By Alan Watton - 05/01/2008 23:47 When the F.A. Cup Headlines include the words ¿a day of shocks¿ then you can guarantee that Blues are one of them. Without resorting to the record books the following come to mind.
Watford 1960, Port Vale 1962, Swindon 1973, Altrincham 1976, Torquay, Reading, Kidderminster, Wrexham, Sunderland and now Huddersfield. If you can think of any more then you are sadder than the poor 2,500 fans who went to the rubbish bin that is now the Galpharm Stadium. How a state of the art stadium has become such a dump is incredible. The pitch has yet to see the rugby league outfit, the Huddersfield Giants this season but the pitch was more suitable for a ploughing contest rather than professional sport. If you think that I am looking for excuses then I am not. I am trying to paint a picture of what Blues sunk to today. Huddersfield Town are a team down on its uppers. They can't win a corner, they are skint and today were short of some key players.
Blues started badly, what's new? The defence looked uncertain and when Kelly failed to clear the ball it reached Beckett of the chest of Taylor and he tapped home.
Blues had a gale behind them but could not pass the ball to a colleague and the long balls simply ran away from them. Forssell did break away down the left and failed to beat Glennon in a one on one.
Football was almost unseen as Blues could not overcome Town's enthusiasm. Muamba who was tremendous throughout finally burst through and tried to net with a side foot shot. The keeper palmed it into the path of O'connor who slotted home.
In a rare Huddersfield attack Queudrue, got himself in a tangle and felled Holdswoth. The free kick found Brandon unmarked on the far post. His header looked certain to find the net as it was arrowed to the bottom corner. Taylor somehow managed to keep it out.
Blues did manage to get De Ridder and McSheffrey into the game but each time the balls into the box were wanting.
The second half was all Blues and the game started to become a decent cup tie. Blues opened up the home defence in their first attack but O'Connor's shot lacked any venom. He repeated the move moments later and Glennon could only parry. Forssell was just unable to take advantage.
Mcsheffrey is becoming a man of mystery. It's a mystery how he managed to score 16 goals last season and looked every bit a £4m player. Now, if there is a decision to make he makes the wrong one. Several times he tried wild goal attempts with players better placed. With the goal at his mercy and two players eight yards from goal he cut in from the left and shot with his right. The ball went hopelessly wide, the crowd went berserk and his colleagues bowed their heads in disbelief.
Jerome had been chomping at the bit to get on and show his old club what they missed. While he was warming up one of the home supporters was ejected presumably for abusing Jerome. The visiting fans got their wish and on he came. Frankly he was awful. He and de-Ridder were treated to some special attention as the increasingly desperate home defence resorted to thuggery. Although Ref Tanner was quick to yellow card the offenders, one could not help thinking some more famous refs would have whipped out a red. Blues free kicks were equally poor as were the numerous corners.
On 81 minutes the Blues FA CUP nightmare continued. Queudrue was caught by his lack of pace and the right wing cross found Brandon alone on the far post. With time to autograph the ball he tapped home for the winner. With eight minutes to go Blues still managed to force a couple of corners. McSheffrey was given another waist high tackle but the resulting free kick by De-Ridder had little menace.
Alex McLeish looked shell shocked after the game and apologised to the travelling fans. Don't worry Alex we are used to it. What we need urgently is major signings. No misfits, jail birds, or anyone past their sell by date. 2 defenders a midfielder and a striker MINIMUM £20million. Arsenal next week, I think I shall lie down in darkened room.

This little gem taken from their 'Singtheblues' web-site.
............The Blues players are all internationals (apart from the ones who aren't) and were first team players - not squad players - and were up against a load of school teachers and plasterers getting paid tuppence ha'penny a month to play for Huddersfield. Ok, that's a slight exageration, but they're not very good...............
Now that is very very silly!
AceT ;D ;D ;D

I actually agree with the majority of what is written here.
If you read it closely, it is basically saying how crap Brum were. He points out what a poor run of form Town were in, that we fielded an under-strength team and if you think the criticism of the pitch was unjustified then I suggest that you look at it in the Gillingham game!
The only comment that I find fault with is the insinuation that Town's defenders resorted to thuggery to stop the Blues; tell me - which team conceded the most free-kicks? Well, it wasn't Town ...
As for the ground being a rubbish tip, I suspect that was aimed at the state of the pitch - can't comment as to whether or not the visitors end was untidy because I've never been in there!
No, he just seems to be one well-pissed-off BlueNose! ;D

It's nice to have been there, so I can comment.
If he's referring to Sinclair's 100% legal crunching tackle as thuggery - let's see some more thuggery please. I haven't seen a tackle like that in years.
'rare Huddersfield attack' is pretty lame too. Otherwise he's pretty accurate in most things - especially the crapness of some of their players.

The pitch is a bit of a concern, can they rectify it any time soon?

The pitch is a bit of a concern, can they rectify it any time soon? Probably not if the egg chasers are also playing on it soon and the weather is not going to get much better! To be honest, it probably helped us yeaterday but by the same stretch it will hinder us against gillingham on sat And i don't think it was much different to the weeks before except they put sand on it which made it look worse

The state of the pitch was mentioned this morning on sky sports. Warnock reckoned it wouldn't be a problem if the ball is oval shaped. Once again we are being dicked by the owner of the Stadium and the owner of the Giants. I reckon our owner should lodge an official complaint and withold rent until it's sorted out. Oh

Its sooooo obvious we did it on purpose!!!! Cant anyone else see this?
Usual Fa Cup 3rd round tactic, make the pitch as boggy as you can and bring the others down to our level. And it did work yesterday.
And we're near £100000 better off for doing it.
Im sure the pitch will be improved drastically in the next few weeks, unless we get another big home game in the Fa Cup. Davy knows we wont go up this year, so just wants to make as much as he can from the cup by any means possible.

i know i maybe biased in my opinion, but if anything brummie were the thugs!!! some town tackles were poor (i.e. berrett's booking! :-)) but i thought that they got riled up and lashed out at a few town players (i.e. danny schofield in the 2nd half).
bitter brummie fans if you ask me.

I have to agree that the stadium looks tired and it has dated very quickly in my opinion.
I think in part this is because most modern stadia have their corners filled (to keep the atmosphere in and weather out!) Also who's idea was it to have pilons instead on modern floodlights?
The dirty concrete pillars in the four conrners look dreadful, the scoreboard doesnt even work properly the casino red banners on the seats behind the goal look sooo tacky!
The state of the playing pitch this weekend has been compared to those of the mudbaths of the 70's!!!
Sort it out Davy!!.

I haven't seen a tackle like that in years. Funny Phil but I thought exactly the same thing when Frank made that bone crunching tackle right infront of us. A throw back to the days of Hunter etc. Have a good flight back to the States.

A throw back to the days of Hunter etc. Have a good flight back to the States. It was in front of us too - we were high up though, but maybe we were sitting close by. That's pretty much what I said "Tommy Smith or Norman Hunter". Think he was making a point ?? I'm back in London for two days, then back to California on Wednesday. See you next time.
