Town will get £9,000 for the live radio coverage, £18,000 for the TV highlights and £40,000 prize money from the FA for winning plus there share of the gate money. So what should we spend it on?

We could spend it on getting DATM to the top of the list on google! Or of course as MT suggested drugs ... I don't really mind either way!

New pitch! just in time for the RL season so they can destroy it from someone who worked on the Mcalpine pitch in the first season i will put you straight that the football does a hell of alot more damage to the pitch than the rugby league. a thankyou

It does look like someone's ballsed up with the underground heating though doesn't it? That's not just wear and tear surely.

Are the Giants training on the pitch? If so, then that use has got to contribute towards the state it's in at the moment.
Or, in an attempt to cut costs, has Davy cut the budget for pitch maintenance?

Why the amount of sand has been put on is a problem im not sure why they have done it. There has been alot of rain in December but the drainage should cope with the run off easly.
Did we have the pitch relaid in the summer?? i cant remember......
If we did and the weather hasnt been overly kind then the knitting in process may have been slower than they expected thus causing the pitch to rapidly cut up.

It seems as though it's been damaged in strips though? Leading me to believe someones overcooked the undersoil heating.

Or, in an attempt to cut costs, has Davy cut the budget for pitch maintenance? the giants use the ground for the gym and swimming pool. They train outdoors at either Leeds Road playing fields or Moldgreen. They also use the indoor barn along with town. The pitch loks the worse its ever been at this time of year we will have to bring back Ray Chappell he would sort it out.

Right the pitch it has been worn out by many matches played in a very short time we haven't had so many matches in december in years ( 8 from Nov 24th to 5th jan!)and not a rugby ball in sight! Also the pitch was reseeded in the summer but remember what sort of summer we had! The drainage goes into the river Colne and if the levels are high then the pitch drainage will suffer, sand was put on the pitch at the weekend to try and dry up the excess moisture! With regards to another post on another topic someone really doesn't know the set up for Rugby matches at the stadium the scoreboard is indeed needed and used and the "big screen" is only for when the Giants are live on SKy obviously the poster only watches the Giants when they are on sky!

Nope. I watch WAKEFIELD when they are on sky, not the giants If the pitch was reseeded in the summertime it couldn't have done it much good with rugby being played on it at the time. And haven't other clubs pitches experienced heavy usage over the last 6-8 weeks?

Yes but have they had a 3rd Round Home Cup Tie with a premiership club? Which a muddy pitch would suit the home team? Hmmm....Becketts goal...due to the pitch maybe? Maik Taylor misjudges the bounce because of the pitch?
Earnt us a hundred grand+ that "aweful" pitch!

IIRC the Giants didn't have a home match for weeks during the summer in which time the pitch was reseeded. But the Giants have had to play on just the plastic strands and sand in many summers when the pitch was about to be reseeded so it sort of proves RL doesn't do that much harm as football would never even be contemplated on that surface when the plastic would be seriously damaged! Other clubs probably have had similar usage but then again our boys did get a home tie in the youth cup had a usually postponed reserve match and have had two home ties in the FA cup plus the usual league matches plus this pitch has always been hard to drain the camber is not as great as at Leeds road and that suffered badly from drainage, there are lots of reasons why our pitch has suffered but the Giants are not to blame I'm afraid!

Thanks for that mate.
You're obviously involved in maintenance of the pitch. Could I ask you a question, When Ritchie took over it seemed to me that the players were struggling to stay on their feet, especially in the final 3rd towards the south stand. Does Ritchie have the pitch heavily watered before games?
