Alan Nixon reckons Clayton transfer deal is close £1.25 m + Butterfield. He has also been saying that a Butterfield deal is being touted elsewhere; Bolton, I think. Re: Gobern, I think he has good ability, but his inability to be match fit is poor and of concern. Also, I'm reliably informed that should his "glass ankles" take a serious knock, it'd be pretty much game over for him. And the Southampton "wanting" him comment...well, for the sake of a few hundred grand in compensation, I'd say I wanted him at my club too.

I'm not convinced Ted mate, I think he's one of those players that a lot of Town fans just don't get. Gobern was EXCELLENT at the end of the 2012/2013 season and everyone on here was happy he got a new deal. Yet some people are coming up with ridiculous comments like he's only had 3 good games. Short memory's indeed. It's almost like looking into one of those fun fair silly mirrors... A lot of fans will see a big 6ft3" midfielder who on the only clip they've seen snapped a Bournemouth player in half, and expect him to go thundering into tackles and knock other players off of the ball. When in reality the mirror is playing tricks on us and he's a 5ft7" playmaker with glass ankles. He made a mistake in the home game against Middlesbrough, but recovered and was the best midfielder by a long chalk for the rest of the game, yet all we got on here, Radio Leeds and Twitter was a complete lambasting and character assassination of him. He's just one of those players that a lot of fans don't get and won't want to give a chance to IMO. Myself and most around me were willing him to get his head up and play his way out of the situation that he created vs Boro. And to be fair to him i thought he did ok. You get a % of idiots at every game. But I felt the crowd were ok with him that night. Despite my offer to drive Gobern 40 miles down the M6 I haven't totally given up on him. But overall I think he has been a bit of a disappointment. Sure there have been injuries. But sometimes I wonder whether he "wants it" enough. I'd love to be proved wrong To be fair where I was sat that night the abuse he got was shocking. You could see how much it hurt making that mistake and the single worse thing was that not one player out an arm around him or offered words of comfort.

I think most fans are so hard in OG because of the promise he showed in patches in his first couple of seasons. It looked like he might develop into something special. He just hasn't hit the mark. Some of the matches last year were awful, he perhaps needs a new club just to get his career going again, a change might be the best thing for Town and him. I never like to be negative about our players at a match but a few times last year this was a difficult task.

I wonder, with Oscar Gobern, if it's another case which highlights that in some ways the biggest loss we've had in recent years is Blackie. Yes, he's got the sort of nickname you give a labrador, yes he was more tubby than most conditioning guys (although there is a bona fide medical justifcation in his case) and yes the high-fives were a bit cringeworthy - BUT - many an astute DATMer has posted that we seemed to have less niggly injuries during his tenure. Also, certain players would come back after a summer and look physically more "on it". Jordan Rhodes looked a different player in his second season - he'd got physically more robust.

No way is Gobern as bad as folk are making out on here. He has hardly been given a consistent run of games and I have no doubt he will go on to better himself. There is a reason Southampton wanted to keep hold of him. He needs a fresh start because the fans are on his back from the off here To be fair it's hard to give a run of games to a lad who spends a lot of time injured, and when he gets a chance looks absolutely knackered after 70 minutes. If we want to get away from slow / ponderous passing sideways football Goberns not going to be the man to do it. Very fleeting signs of promise in 3 seasons isn't a reason to keep him IMO.

Jack Hunt going on loan to Forest to cover Lichaj's injury Yeah just seen this ( LINK). A little bit disappointed, I feel he'd be perfect four our 3-5-2 system. I know others on here would disagree about his merits and question his personality etc. Wages / fees no doubt would be a lot different now. Never mind, we move on.

Wolves are readying a £2million bid for Leicester striker Chris Wood who looks set to become surplus to requirements at the club.

I think he could do a job. He's got more to his game than the obvious physical attributes and would give us another dimension. I wouldn't read too much into the 'pole position'. Could just mean they're ahead in terms of negotiating with the club. Despite more the offer of potentially more game time (depending of JV's fitness) at Orient, I cant see that over us. Surely?

we have learnt a lesson with older pros and will not offer them 2 year deals Hence Andrews stalling and Henderson looking at other longer options. No diff to when D johson went to Fleetwood instead of staying at town.

Think we may be better off looking at the loan market then offering old pros like Henderson a last pay day

If he came to Town, we could guarantee him more game time as he doesn't have to compete with the likes of that Ronaldo and Bale. He might move Hammill out of the 1st team in a few seasons, but we'd have to give him time to adapt to English football. Reckon Hammill will defend his post well though, so it might be hard for the lad to break through...

Bolton supposedly interested in Hammill. Lucky Bolton are far in debt and have nothing to offer to Hammill. Also Wolves are looking at several strikers, including Wood and Patrick Bamford from Chelsea, so they can choose between them, so Wood could still be open to a move elsewhere....maybe Town?
