been reading the forum and tweets and haven't seen the reason as to why we are moving the singing section to the the fml?

To make it our home end, an end for the team to attack. So we can dress it up with banners and flags to give it a home end feel. Improve the atmosphere and encourage other parts of the ground to sing and join in. The aim isn't to divide fans it's to encourage a better atmosphere, I know a lot in the current singing section are a bit sceptical about the FML but in time I think a lot will change there mind.

ah yes I like the idea what you guys are putting forward (I've seen the palace videos and it looks very good) i just dont know whether the sound will travel down the pitch as the bottom of the fml has open sides, but I totally support what you guys are doing, would love for the stadium to have a good atmosphere because I wouldn't care if we lost as long as we enjoyed it

Because we want an end and the club are only willing to give us the FML currently. It sounds like there'll still be some singers staying in the Kilner (including the drummer) so with any luck we'll have two singing sections rather than one. It should give the lads a boost when we're attacking that end as well as look good with all the flags and paraphernalia.

As the other lads say, it's about making an end for the team to attack to.
Must be pretty demoralising for the players to be attacking to a relatively empty end even in some of our biggest games. Whether or not the sound travels, having fans behind the goal will hopefully improve things aesthetically and give the players a boost.
In the long term, with more fans and who knows, maybe structural changes, perhaps we can begin to tackle the acoustics.

Also we get to be on FL show if we score a goal at that end, this is my call to fame

The sound might not travel down the pitch, but so what, It'll be loud and proud in the FM lower where I'll be. Anyway, this acoustics thing is detracting from THE logical solution to making the stadium noisy, and that is for more folk to sing. 400 or so in the FM lower, a few hundred in the singing section, and 1 person in 10 singing in the remainder of the ground, and it would be plenty loud enough.

The singing section isn't moving to correct you slightly. We are creating another area behind the goal to spread the noise. I expect the corner of the Britannia to remain mostly intact.

There was never a problem with the atmosphere against Lincoln in the play off's & Bournemouth in the play offs - in fact the whole ground was electric both those nights, for obvious reasons. The secret as far as I'm concerned is recreating that kind of setting before and during a league match.
I reckon it may be harder to create an atmosphere in some of the home games to come next season so don't get disappointed if this is so.

I'd be disappointed, though, if we sat and waited for games like Lincoln and Bournemouth to come around in order to generate atmosphere. You're right, the ground and our fans can make a lot of noise when they want, but sadly most of the ground don't want for your typical game. By moving a few singers behind a goal, it'll hopefully spread that singing culture to other parts of the ground and quash the fact that the only singing section is the south end of the BR.

The problem I have with this is that it's smaller and of a lower capacity than the away end so we will always be "outsung".
I think it's brilliant what is trying to be achieved and plenty of heart and soul has gone into it but I wouldn't be giving up hope of getting the south stand.

The away fans won't hear anything how ever load you think you sound And why is everything about trying to impress the away fans? It's about trying to spread atmosphere around our ground rather than having it tucked away in one corner for eternity mate.

Look at the Watford game we were behind the goal we out sang them the whole game if we could do that at home in the FML then we will have achieved our goal

Where the noise will be heard is when town are attacking that open end, free kicks, corners etc...doesn't matter if Smithies can't hear it from 100 yards away...and who gives a monkeys chuff about whether the away fans can here it ? That's not really the point, neither is the fact you can't hear the Kilner 'singing section' from the away end...so what ?

I think our ground is too big,the club should close the upper tier of the north stand and only use it for big games.this would fill out the rest of the ground and make it feel more compact.

I think our ground is too big,the club should close the upper tier of the north stand and only use it for big games.this would fill out the rest of the ground and make it feel more compact. I seem to recall someone saying that in order to qualify for the grants we received for the McAlpine Stadium the capacity had to be 24,500 or over. I'm not sure if that applies in perpetuity... In reality though it is the 'popular' stands like the Kilner Bank fans that are missing from... The FML Upper is quite well populated with that being the only family section now, and the DG Stand always looks reasonably full...When I move down to the North end of the Kilner in the 2nd half of games it's quite empty ..another 2,000 in there and hopefully 1,500 in the FML would push our home crowd to 15,000...plus the away fans, that would make a decent atmosphere. It's getting those extra 2-3,000 fans in on a regular basis that the club needs to work on. I don't like the idea of empty stands , just looks awful.
