Just a quick one for those of you that live in London. I'm moving to the capital in the next couple of weeks, and still want to get to as many home games as I can.
What's the most feasible way of getting up for games? Is there a decent bus or a cheaper train (just had a look at a return from Kings Cross and I was looking at just over £100).
Any advice appreciated. Cheers.

Not sure on timings but mega bus plus is a good cheap option. Should be able to pick it up pretty cheap (£15 one way) at a few days' notice, it's a train from St Pancras to east Midlands parkway then bus straight up the m1, first stop Huddersfield through Flockton.

If you book well in advance you can get the Grand Central to Mirfield for about £35 (or less) return. A lot more comfortable than the megabus that's for sure. I've got a ST so hoping to get back quite abit.

The mega bus is cheap and remains cheap right up to the date you need to travel. The other plus is the Mega Bus will drop you off in Huddersfield. The coach part of the journey is quite painful.
The Train Line will have cheap train tickets as part of deals they run. The train can be quite cheap so long as you book quite far in advance and travel outside of popular times.

Kings Cross to Wakey/Leeds station £13 if booked 12weeks in advance, return fares are always more expensive on that line than singles when buying in advance. Better still if you have someone who will travel up and down at the same time as you then invest in a TwoTogether railcard and you'll get a third off any rail fares but it has to be the two people named on the card and traveling together at the same time

Virgin through Manchester do good advances and as they run 3 trains an hour, it is sometimes easier to get cheap advances on their services.

Cheers for the responses. National Express coach is only £9 but only gets me in half hour before kick off. Bit of traffic and I'm screwed. Will have a look at those trains. Thanks again.

I would imagine the coach would be horrendous and that's National Express who have luxury coaches, fuck knows what it's like on Megabus, must be like a cattle truck.

Would avoid the national express coach, best of booking tickets in advanced on the train if you book to Wakefield is usually a lot cheaper, than booking direct to Huddersfield and just buy Hudd to Wakefield return on the day. London Terriers usually meet up for Sky games on at the City Road sports bar usually a good few London based Town fans there. We are looking to be a bit more organised this year especially as there are a few London based away games this year.

You have a terrific list of local matches as well - Fulham, Brentford, Reading, Charlton, Millwall, Ipswich, Norwich, Watford, Brighton, Bmouth, Brum, Wolves, Derby all in easy reach - you've never had it so good.

Megabus is great, especially for London from Huddersfield (7 pounds each way), as you get to travel by train for most of the way. The coaches are just the same as any others, with a toilet on board, usually at the back. A mate and I did the Megabus down to Wembley from Wakey (Wolley Edge) - In London by 7:30am and got the return trip out at 10:30pm the same day. Big day and no rushing home straight after the match. We were able to stay in the "Spoons" celebrating all evening. And boy did we celebrate... However, when we came to board the bus back, we were met with a bus full (and I mean full) of Blades fans. So we sat down on the last two seats remaining and started talking to a Rotherham fan, that had come down with his Blade mates. As with the other Megabuses, the toilet was at the back and we were half way down. Of course, since we had been in the pub all evening (most of the day, actually) we were glad there was a toilet on board. Then a gruff, depressed, miserable voice boomed out from the back of the bus - "I hope you Town fans aren't thinking of using the toilet.." (Your brother's not a Blades fan is he AR?) Anyway fantastic day and Megabus everytime for me.

Never had a problem with Megabus; if you're a student and have that railcard, though, you can get cheap enough tickets that way, and trains are generally easier.
Hunt around well in advance for tickets, too. We're in Kent and travelled up to a wedding just outside Barnsley the other week. Without any discounts or anything, our returns cost £8.60 each (which included the high speed at this end), so bargains are out there if you book early.

Yeah it seems like megabus is the way. There's one from Victoria that takes 3 and a half hours. I'd be looking at that kind of time on the train anyway.
Thanks!

Having used most methods of getting between London and Huddersfield over the past few years, I've found that the Megabus Plus (from St Pancras) is the cheapest and most comfortable. If you're disorganised like me it's great for booking a day or two in advance as well. Being on a train for half the journey is a real bonus, and far better than the National Express from Victoria which can take FOREVER. I've never had any issues with Megabus coaches.
Sounds like I may be seeing a few people in Town shirts milling around St Pancras on a Saturday morning. Here's hoping!

There's a few of us that get together in London whenever Town are on the tv, usually get a pretty decent crowd We try and do as many of Southern-midlands away games as possible. I'm away in Dubai with work at the moment, but the other lads have set up a twitter recently twitter.com/LondonTerriers

I can't get to the game on Saturday as I've only been given 2 weeks notice to move to London. Busy week ahead of me.
Will definitely get down to the pubs you've mentioned for Sky games, thanks. I followed that Twitter page the other day so look forward to seeing some town fans down there.
