just a thought..
if friendlies are meaningless, as some on here seem to firmly believe, why do we bother playing them??
don't give me the old footballspeak shite of getting match fit, nobody in a town shirt did enough moving about to sharpen a small pencil never mind sharpening their fitness.
the mere fact that in july we are already saving Vaughan for other matches does not bode well given his track record to date. add to that that most of the team look well off the pace even in a friendly we have 2 choices;;
a. bin the friendlies altogether.
b. play the fuckers properly and get something from them.

To gain match fitness and work on team pattern. Hope this helps.. Ps who won the Shipp cup in 1978 ? No mate I don't know either, and care even less

Good to see Gobern getting ridiculous amounts of unnecessary stick again SOME OF US LOVE YOU, OSCAR!!! He's a quality footballer, a lot of what we did well early last season was due to the time and space he creates on the ball receiving it as the deep midfielder, drawing a couple of players in, and laying it off for the space to be exploited. Then for some reason we dropped Clayton into that role, whose possession and distribution is a lot more steady and considered (and readable to a defence), and who is not as able to to create that space and time on the ball as effectively as Gobern, a couple of times being caught in possession to disastrous consequence. Anyone who saw Gobern at Leeds knows he has the heart for a fight, he carried us through that game until he took a blow to the neck, and then we conceded a load of goals when he stopped playing. Agree with all that but careful saying things like that around here
