They looked great in the stands.... Once we got the hang of the zip strips, or when Adam did even! Bring on the new season.

Cheers for the pictures, just wondering whether these are a permanent fixture on the seats or whether some will be used as surfers? Would prefer the latter for the purpose of building atmosphere!

The bigger ones are gonna be surfed, they will then be secured in the wings to be on display during the game.

Starting to think I should've got a sc in that end now!!! You can use your SC for the first game in the NSL (I suspect you will be able to use it for others also). If we fill that end we will take flags down and find other places for them although I doubt we will fill it in the first few games. Let's face it, we aren't short of a few spare seats at town.

Starting to think I should've got a sc in that end now!!! You can transfer in to the NS for the Bournemouth game from any stand on the day...just roll up to the turnstile....you can even pay in on the day if you want...The smaller flags will be fastened down to the seats in the 2 end sections of the NS....The bigger ones will be surfed... And the landscape banners are already fixed to the back of the NS wall....I would love to have the headache of where do we put the flags because the North Stand is rammed....Let's just hang 'em from the rafters then !!!

What I have been wondering is
will everybody who has already bought a season ticket for FML always have a seat in there as I don't sometimes get there until 2:50 PM and I don't want it full in there by the time I get there ?

I'll see if I can find out where it is and what it entails.

Might struggle getting to Bradford though, we'll see.

Reply from Mr. Robinson himself:
"Thank you for this email regarding your request to bring a flag into the John Smith Stadium.
Flags over the size specified in the Club Flag Policy will need to have a certificate from the material manufacturer, preferably attached to the flag, certifying that the material is at least fire retardant. If you were to bring this to the stadium before wanting to bring it into the ground I would be happy to inspect it to make sure there are no unacceptable risks associated with it. Please bring it to the main John Smith’s Stadium reception on a match day and I will arrange to have it inspected for suitability."
I also asked about flag poles for wavy flags which are over the 1m restrictions
"In relation to poles however, I fear there may be little I can do to assist as poles are specifically forbidden by Ground Regulations, except those referrer to in the Clubs Flag Policy. However, perhaps you might want to bring the pole you wish to use with you and we can review exactly what it is you want to bring in?"
All seems a bit excessive for a flag to be brought into a football stadium but guess that is the way of todays H&S World.
I have asked him a couple of questions with regards to the above so will post up once he has got back to me.

That's quite an encouraging response from John Robinson Pozza. Looks like we're all finally pulling in the same general direction.

No mention of being able to wave oversized flags pre kick off as mentioned at NSL meetings Flags, Surfers & Banners – General 1. The Stadium Operator reserves the right to refuse to allow flags, surfers or banners to be displayed, particularly if content is considered to be offensive, discriminatory, defamatory or inflammatory. 2. Any item that the Stadium Operator or any of its employees believe could potentially be used as a weapon and/or compromise public safety is strictly prohibited and will be confiscated. 3. Any item above the area of 600mm x 1000mm must be flame retardant and have a fire safety certificate to prove so, provided in advance of match day.
Flags 1. The flag pole should be no bigger than 7mm in diameter and 1 metre in length. The flag pole material should be plastic and be rounded at the ends. 2. Flags should be presented to stewards prior to entry to the Stadium where they will be inspected and approved prior to entry. 3. The Stadium Operator reserves the right to confiscate any flags brought into the Stadium without being approved prior to entry. 4. Supporters wishing to introduce flags on poles longer than 1 metre must contact the Stadium Operator in advance via email via safety.officers@ksdl.org.uk. Subject to advance agreement with the Stadium Operator, such flags on poles may be waved prior to kick-off but must not obstruct the views of others and under no circumstances are to be waved after kick-off.
5. Flags which are not subject to Section 4 above may generally be waved in the Stadium, however, the Stadium Operator reserves the right, if appropriate, to ask supporters to resist from waving flags in certain circumstances. Big Flags = Fire Safety Certificate Long Poles = Prior agreement with the safety officer.

I really don't want an argument and appreciate the work that's been done by NSL. I have read the stadium rules many times thank you with regards to banners and flags. I didn't see any positives in the reply to Pozza and the stadium policy is still likely to put people off bringing banners and flags than to encourage them. I am fed up of football supporters being treated like potential criminals. NSL have set up there stall up well away from any likely trouble in the stadium and this could encourage people who like to taunt the away fans all game to follow there team in a different way and join NSL. This would make it far easier to police on match days so they should be doing all they can to encourage this immediately. As for banners/flags I really can't see that the fire risk is greater than paper streamers dangled from the top tier. The big flags at Liverpool are handed to people to pre kick off and then collected in . Perhaps we could do the same .Anyway I can't wait for Saturday.

Liverpool own there stadium, therefore make there own rules. We don't own ours and we can't make the rules. It's tough to take I know but the rules are what they are and we have to see the positives from what we've achieved and hope the rules will be made easier for people to bring flags in in the future.

Sorry if my response appeared a little blunt Joe, it was just a lot quicker to copy an paste the F & B policy than to type out an explanation as to what is allowed to be taken in. Until somebody says different, we have to abide by the rules of the Flags and Banners Policy, we have done with all the flags we've ordered (we have some wavy flags on order too, but again they comply with the rules). If you want to take a big flag in on a longer stick you can, but it must be fire retardant and the flag pole must be prior approved - its not ideal, but its where we are. In reference to the reply to Pozzas email, it was the tone, rather than the content of the reply. I've dealt with John Robinson before and found him reasonably stubborn in the past, whereas his reply this time was quite helpful. We could discuss all day about what is safe and what isn't safe, what is a fire risk and what isn't, it's much easier to just follow the guidelines and rules as they stand.
