Smithies has made 3 bad errors costing us goals in the last 2 season. Think by and large hes been really consistant putting in long runs of good performances. Gerrard had some dodgy games the season before last but last season barely dropped below an 8 game after game. He was about as consistent as any player is ever likely to be over an entire season IMO.
Suppose Scannells consistant in his own way mind. bring him on as a late sub and he generally looks impressive and dangerous. Start him and he generally looks useless.

Smithies and gerrard, our 2 most consistant players by a long way since we went up. Not a fan of scannel. His stats tell a story and he looks uninterested a lot of the time imo. Think hes a very big earner so it would be hard to move him on, even if we wanted to, as his next club is likely to be someone like brentford or a lleague 1 club. Smithies made some right dickhead mistakes last season, and Gerrard got slaughted for some of his displays, i know there all human,, but i dont think any of our players are consistentIf our players were putting in consistently good performances, either Town would be in the Prem by now or most of our squad would be getting cherry picked a la Southampton. As you say though, they're human - even the top players in the Prem make mistakes from time to time. For what it's worth Hogg would probably fall under the category of consistent. Granted, for some people it would fall under consistently bad considering his technical skills, but in terms of breaking up play he's never shied away from it and always puts in solid displays.

Yeh consistent with staying on his line constantly oh apart from when hes flapping in the air. Smithies is a great shot stopper But a consistent goalkeeper, no way Doesn't happen in reality. Id accept he sometimes stays on his line when he 'MIGHT' have been able to come out and collect a cross, but he almost never comes out and flaps at one,not getting to the ball. Thats in your imagination. Truth is, the vast, vast majority of times he makes the correct decision and either stays put or collects/clears the cross. Ive always really rated him, but Ive still been surprised at how consistantly good hes been over the past 2 seasons.

I can't agree that Hogg was consistent. He started superbly and faded terribly. That said, he is my prediction for most improved player this time round. I'm hoping that now he isn't the only player in the midfield who can run, he has the opportunity to focus on what he's good at. Break up play and give the simple ball. All credit to him for having the legs to get there in the first place but when he got forward.... er.....

A large number of his appearances for Palace were from the bench and its easy to see why. He rarely has a good game when he starts and when he comes on as an 'impact' sub he rarely has any impact.
We should cut our losses and get shut imo.

Scannell's consistently underachieved virtually from day one. It's frustrating as he has ability, you see it in occasional glimpses or the odd goal here and there then he goes on long periods of indifference. The problem is he rarely plays well if we are not already on top and cruising. Mainly came out of his shell on Tuesday once we had the game under our control but hadn't himself contributed much in turning the game. First half I can't recall a successful run he made at their defence and he constantly drifted infield when they were on the break which left massive amounts of space for their number 2 and 18 to exploit down their right. I'd say a new manager might get the best from him but he's played under a few already at our club with much the same results.

Please sell him. The club has been really good with getting the max price for players recently, but in this case I'd probably settle just for getting a small amount and him off our books.

He really needs to go, for everyone's sake, not least his own. Simply hasn't done it here and is fast running out of chances.

If we can get him off the wage bill great, as others have said its just not happened for him here and it will give Lolley more game time.

I'm inclined to agree, although he does have bags of talent it's not been shown enough under Larry or Robins. In a way he reminds me of a better version of Paul Dalton. Under Horton he was one of the worst, laziest, least productive players I have ever seen here. Under Jacko he was one of the best. If somebody can get him consistently performing what he is capable of, they'll have a hell of a player. Maybe the new manager can be that somebody. On the other hand, on balance it's more likely that it'll be more of the same.
If we get an offer it's probably worth selling.

Get what we can for him and use the money to improve other areas in the team. As a wide player he's 4th in the pecking order behind Lolley,Hamill and Ward with Charles also coming through.

Please Millwall take him. And add Gobern and Pato to that list.
Free up the wage budget and gives the new gaffer a chance to get a couple in.

If they pay us a penny, it's too much. Everybody says he's inconsistent, but in reality you know precisely what you'll get from him every time he plays. Dogshit.

I've only ever seen him have two good games for town! One was Leicester away in the FA cup and Wolves away in the league where we won 3-1 apart from that he's been pants! Not done much in two seasons!

Been poor, consistently. Can't agree about the talent. I once threw a 180 at darts but it didn't make me a dart player or talented. What little he has done does not make him a footballer or talented. Getting rid is probably the best for all parties.

First mentioned Scannell to Millwall was a possibility at the end of last season. As I've said before on here, his career at Town has panned out to be exactly as my Palace supporting mate predicted it would. Sean's older brother Damian used to play for my local Conference South team Sutton United, and, honestly, I can see Sean gradually falling down the leagues himself. He's got undoubted talent, he's strong, but I'm afraid he's not got the right mentality to develop the sort of career he could have had. A shame, but it's down to himself.
What will readingterrier do if Scannell does leave Town? Go support Millwall? ;-0
