Not keen. Would prefer: A Yorkshire Club. Huddersfield Town In Yorkshire. For Yorkshire Ever since I've seen this moniker I've been a little embarrassed by it. Maybe it's just me, and Smithfield of course, but I also view it as tinpot. I'm very proud to be Yorkshire and I don't think you could have a better logo than Smithfield's "In Yorkshire, For Yorkshire". It's a hundred times better than "The Yorkshire Club". Mr. Hoyle, is it too late to change it?.

I quite like the 'moniker' and it equates Yorkshire values to the club.
Quite clearly we are not the only football club from Yorkshire but does that mean we cannot brand ourselves from as coming from this lovely county of ours.
Would you be against the moniker Huddersfield Town A Yorkshire club? while being factually correct I don't think it has the impact that The Yorkshire club does.
Just my twopenneth.
I think more Town fans don't think it's tinpot then those that do but the greatest majority probably couldn't care less about the 'moniker' but are happy to see the club promote itself on local values whilst boosting local charities and feeding local schoolchildren.

Yep, leave it alone. I'm most proud of being from Huddersfield, and of the Football Club and of being a Yorkshire lad. As far as I'm concerned Huddersfield is The Yorkshire Club. Other teams can be what the hell they've a mind, that particular advertising logo is Towns and I'm happy with the association. If Kirklees Boro as part of their conditions for paying for part of the ground had insisted on calling us The Kirklees Club, and The Kirklees Stadium this forum would have been up in arms.

Not keen. Would prefer: A Yorkshire Club. You may think differently if you were trying to sell the club commercially/corporately, in relatively chastened times. Relatively chastened times..? Corporate sales seem to be successful ? The Commercial team in my experience are very, very good. From an internal perspective , the "Yorkshire Club " will of course be seen as helpful and visionary. Your marketing advice will have emphasised that no doubt. From an external perspective .....oh dear. Just a tad arrogant. I can imagine the reaction had Halifax Town trailblazed that strap line ..or Sheffield Wednesday or Doncaster Rovers. Leeds United I think have done it. Seems to me that our self proclamation of greatness does not reflect the awesome progress made at Huddersfield Town , rather , it risks making us look a little smug.

A bit less cringy than when the Terries marketing concept arrived to stir up connections with yapping, bad breath and matted hair. Why the discrimination against Terries? There you go - yapping :-)

This is a discussion board. By posting your disdain you've bumped the topic back to the top of the board and ensured it gets more exposure, which I guess you wanted seems as though you did it.
Good job.

Good idea if you ask me, why not promote the club in that way, makes perfect sense, the idea make the club more appealing to businesses fans.
Not half as cringe worthy as most marketing slogans that are meaningless waffle. The car manufacturers are the worst, simply clever my arse.

Without being bothered to read all the arguments (it may have been mentioned) look at what we have done with the yorkshire air amubulance.
Proud to support Huddersfield Town. Proud to be from Yorkshire. Happy to combine the two!

Please can I have some opinions on this? I think it is unbelievably cringeworthy, unsubstantiated and more confusingly misplaced arrogance. It now also seems to have become the 2nd part of our name. Huddersfield Town is merely half of us, we are now, wherever an opportunity arises Huddersfield Town The Yorkshire Club No we're not. It's tinpot and please get rid. I can also take issue with the honesty, integrity, value part of it as well.

So, imagine that you own a business some where in Yorkshire and you are looking to expand your market. Why would you invest your money in a team naming itself The Yorkshire Club? Would that bring you more custom? Only the gullible would do this. Tog says that it is good corporate business, but are businesses only putting their money in because we are The Yorkshire Club? I would be interested in the thought process behind any business taking this line. it seems a very bizarre and illogical thought process

I would be interested in the thought process behind any business taking this line. it seems a very bizarre and illogical thought process Obviously the commercial department are looking to bring in bigger business and more well known names to invest or sponsor the club so their need to drown is in all this commercial branding and marketing speak. Unfortunately while they're doing that they're shitting on small local businessmen who've stood by the club through good times and bad whilst we've yoyoed up and down the leagues. Was speaking to a pal of mine last week and with less than 2 weeks to go before the season kicked off no one from the commercial department had contacted him about renewing his sponsorship. They'd done the same to him last season and he had to go chasing them up about it and they only got back to him after they couldn't find anyone else to do the sponsorship he usually does. If we get relegated again they'll be nagging him like mad for sponsorship because all these bigger businesses will drop us like hot potatoes without the lure of Championship football for their advertising. Maybe the club should be loyal to their own before chasing after other businesses that only give a shit about us because we're a Championship side.

not a disregard Smithfield and I will admit when I am wrong I missed that one and I apologise think we will disagree with regards the Yorkshire club because I read it my way and you read it yours, I shouldn't have called you a cock or smallminded, I was generalising as arterrier posted in agreement and his negativity grates on me big time, you felt the brunt of it and it was unfair of me to do that You better hope we win tomorrow and put in a top performance.....why is it negative to express an opinion that you don't agree with? Even some of the most over the top positive posters on here have expressed their agreement with the OP.

I'm fairly sure that if you asked most football supporters to name clubs associated with Yorkshire, we'd be a fair way down the list. It's not a phrase I like to invoke but I think 'tinpot' is the only way to describe it. Put it this way, if Bradford adopted this title, what would be the response on here?
