Surprised to see him loaned to League 2, honestly.
Lets hope he gets plenty of game time.

Strange timing considering new manager will want to look at all his options.

I really hope I'm wrong (Beckham went on loan to Preston, and he didn't do bad for himself) but I fear Duane is going to be yet another Town youth product who bursts onto the scene, promises so much, then somehow never delivers on that initial early promise. In all honesty, it's a pattern that has been played out dozens of times previously.

Just hasn't fulfilled the early promise he showed against Blackpool lad season, and his form in the youth teams.
Really needs some game time at a competitive level to move forward now.

Midfielder Duane Holmes has today joined League 2 club Bury on a Youth Loan until 5 January 2015.
The 19 year-old Town Academy graduate has made one appearance as a substitute for the Terriers this season, in the Capital One Cup tie against Nottingham Forest.
Duane has made 25 senior career appearances in total, five of which came in a loan spell at Yeovil Town in the second-half of the 2013/14 Championship campaign.
Now he will further his senior experience at Bury, who have started well under Manager David Flitcroft in League 2 this term.
Huddersfield Town’s Caretaker Manager Mark Lillis commented:
“We’ve made some very good additions to our midfield recently with the arrival of Jacob Butterfield, Conor Coady and Radi Majewski, which has given Duane the opportunity to go out and gain further First Team playing experience and make an impact.
“As Academy Manager, I know Duane and I believe he needs this loan spell. This is a great opportunity for Duane to go out play First Team matches regularly.
“It is important that Duane goes there, works hard and impresses. We will be monitoring his development very closely during his time at Bury.”

Strange that he's had to drop to league 2. Absolutely critical few months for the lad.

Judging by the way some people describe him on here, you would think he be moving to the Premiership. A spell in League 2 will do him good both for game time and his swollen head.

Really? He's not needed in the first team anymore then?! we do need to properly strengthen in several areas, striker being one, with a few outgoing loans such as this could free up some wages to do so who knows, maybe we could get beckford back for a while

Lillis knows best its up to DH to show some character now...problem is that he isn't a winger or a forward so to get the best out of him you play him behind front 2 or as the most advanced centre mid in 451 system , we have abandoned 352 so how do you accommodate Duane even from the bench? He would be better being loaned to a continental club imo but got a feelin he wont make it at Town now

Strange timing considering new manager will want to look at all his options. New manager will get a better look at him out on loan than staying here as a bit part. He's not really good enough for the Championship yet, needs to improve some of his decision making if he's to become anything other than a crowd rabble rousing late sub (and theres nothing wrong with having a couple of players like that in the squad). Hopefully he'll learn a bit more about football with some regular involvement under his belt.

Sounds like league one clubs were after him but a combination of Duane and the club decided Bury was best. Probably the short distance meaning he could continue to live over here
Good luck to him, he has the ability to take the piss at that level

Smacks of a punishment to me. Holmes is far better than League 2. I think they've sent him to a club with poor facilities to show him how lucky he is to be a Town player.

Behind billing now I'd say so the correct move for me Different positions Billing is battling with the likes of Coady, Hogg, Butterfield etc for the more central/defensive midfield positions. Holmes is up against the like of Majewski and Lolley for a more advanced midfield position

Bury have Flitcroft in charge who looks after his players and has a real team mentality and would never publicly castigate a kid on loan like that numpty Johnson did at Yeovil.
Can see DH starting every game and getting great experience - ideal for all parties.

It was pretty clear from Flitcroft's comments that he wouldn't be starting games initially, so it's not too surprising. It won't look good if he isn't eventually starting.

Might be if he develops all the aspects of his game that are weak, of which there are many IMO, but at the moment hes one of those that might not even make it as a full time pro, never mind League 2. Needs game time and needs to develop physically if hes to stand any chance of making it IMO.
