Top work Cole.
If we had 100 like you the FML would look brilliant on a match day!

Really impressed Cole, the more you make the better. I suggest you try getting on the back row with it.

I was thinking about making some but don't want people to take them home and not bring them back. Have we somewhere to hand them in at the end of the game?

With mine i'd give them to people who i've met etc, and collect them at the end The main problem we have though, is that you should have at least 1 meter flag pole (that's not including the part of it inside the flag) so you don't obstruct peoples view behind you I'm gonna try and make some within the regulations but if people can't see then we'll have to ask the club if they can change the regulations...

Do you think anyone can bring it up with the club? About flag poles shorter than 1m obstruct peoples views?

Probs not the best idea as they might ban them too! Hopefully there will be some good news re longer poles coming soon Joe. - I'm sure anyone who wants to make a flag and store it at the ground could keep it with the NSL ones in the lock up.

Okay, I've got some fabric so I don't know whether to make some more 2-sticks, 1 stick flags or a handmade banner

I like 2 sticks, but they're only really suitable for the start of the match, at least wavy ones can be waved while the match is going while signing.
I've got a couple of designs in mind for a few flags, I just need to find some time to get some material to make them up!

Gonna get a price for this to be made up, Cole has just refined my design a little and added a little nod to young James on the bottom corner. Looking at getting it approx. 8ft x 4ft, for the young lad and his mate to hold up pre-match.

Managed to make up a couple of striped flags using some cut down Greece flags I found in Sports Direct the other day, only cost £1 so going to try source some more.
Hopefully I'll be able to get to a DIY shop today and get some poles for tonight's match.

They are the ones that were recently approved by the Events panel.

There are a few questions on this thread that remain unanswered. Can someone please tell me what the maximum size of flag pole that can be waved pre match and what it should be made of? What progress has been made with regards to relaxing the rules re flags in the stadium? How much money does NSL currently have to spend on flags/banners? I'd be willing to donate again if I new the plans. I think we are doing brilliant re atmosphere in the NS, the Connor Cody has got to be done at least once each half.

Huddersfield Town Flags, Banners and Surfers Policy on Football match days Huddersfield Town and the Stadium Operator want to encourage an exciting atmosphere at its games and encourages fans to bring flags, banners and large ‘surfing’ flags – but these must adhere to the guidelines set by the Club in tandem with the Stadium’s Safety Team, as stipulated below. Flags, Surfers & Banners - General 1. The Stadium Operator reserves the right to refuse to allow flags, surfers or banners to be displayed, particularly if content is considered to be offensive, discriminatory, defamatory or inflammatory. 2. Any item that the Stadium Operator or any of its employees believe could potentially be used as a weapon and/or compromise public safety is strictly prohibited and will be confiscated. 3. Any item above the area of 600mm x 1000mm must be flame retardant and have a fire safety certificate to prove so, provided in advance of match day. Flags 1. The flag pole should be no bigger than 7mm in diameter and 1 metre in length. The flag pole material should be plastic and be rounded at the ends. 2. Flags should be presented to stewards prior to entry to the Stadium where they will be inspected and approved prior to entry. 3. The Stadium Operator reserves the right to confiscate any flags brought into the Stadium without being approved prior to entry. 4. Supporters wishing to introduce flags on poles longer than 1 metre must contact the Stadium Operator in advance via email via safety.officers@ksdl.org.uk. Subject to advance agreement with the Stadium Operator, such flags on poles may be waved prior to kick-off but must not obstruct the views of others and under no circumstances are to be waved after kick-off. 5. Flags which are not subject to Section 4 above may generally be waved in the Stadium, however, the Stadium Operator reserves the right, if appropriate, to ask supporters to resist from waving flags in certain circumstances. Surfers & Banners 1. On occasion, where the Stadium Operator designates a sterile area (e.g. empty block of seats) as available within the Stadium, it may be possible for banners to be placed in the sterile area. Permission to do so must first be obtained from the Stadium Operator in advance via email to safety.officers@ksdl.org.uk or, in circumstances where this is not possible, by a senior steward prior to entry on a matchday. 2. Banners will not be allowed where they may block advertising, signage, exit routes, restrict the views of other supporters or in any way compromise the safe operation of the Stadium. 3. It is the responsibility of supporters who bring banners and surfers into the Stadium to ensure they are securely fastened at all times. The Stadium Operator reserves the right to remove any articles that have not been appropriately secured or become loose during a match. 4. The use of surfers or surfer-style banners designed to be passed over supporters' heads, will not be allowed after kick-off. 5. Supporters wishing to introduce new surfers and banners must contact the Stadium Operator in advance via email to safety.officers@ksdl.org.uk. The banner/surfer must be presented to the Stadium Operator at least three working days before match day with the appropriate fire certificate. The banner/surfer must also be presented prior to entry to the Stadium where it will be inspected by a senior steward. 6. Any surfers or banners brought into the Stadium without being approved by the Stadium Operator will be confiscated. 7. A register of banners and surfers which meet fire safety criteria will be kept by the Stadium Operator. A copy will be given to the Safety Officer to assist stewards in assessing approved articles. 8. The Stadium Operator reserves the right to change this policy as it deems fit or as required by the Local Authority, Football Authorities or any other body that helps to determine the safety of spectators at the Stadium. 9. Whilst the Stadium Operator endeavours to take good care of banners and surfers that are brought into the Stadium, it accepts no responsibility for any loss or damage that may occur at any time. My NSL 2 stick banner (Don't know if you've seen it) is 60x80cm and on 1m plastic poles (in my experience they don't check the diameter of the poles, your best bet is somewhere like wickes on the plumbing section)

Maximum flag pole size that we can pre match currently stands at 1.5m. We've had some passed by the events panel, they are plastic and have end caps on. If you want to take a flag in without a fire certificate, then it should be no more than 1000mm x 600mm, are you wanting to make your own flag or get one made up? I've just ordered a flag 8ft x 4ft, with my own design on, with a fire certificate and its cost less than £40 delivered from Poland. As far as money goes, we are always looking to raise more funds mate, we currently have enough for maybe a couple of flags and a few tifo displays. If you can encourage people to buy scarves, or make a donation, that will help build up the funds. We're looking at other fundraising ideas constantly.

It'll have a fire certificate, and 2 sticks - one either side. It's the one on this thread just abut further up. I'm looking at ordering some poles that we can then sell on at cost (simply because some of the suppliers have minimum order quantities). How many will you want?

I'd like about 10 sticks but need to know the price please. You mentioned a green container in the North Stand for NSL storage. Where are they again? I couldn't find it Tuesday. Thanks for your help.I would like to come to a meeting sometime if we're still having one

Thanks for your help.I would like to come to a meeting sometime if we're still having one The poles work out at £1.75 each mate. They're about 20mm diameter, so if you're planning on making any flags, make sure you leave enough room in the sleeve for the pole.
