Bring him back in please.
Same team (or weaker as we didn't have Hudson or Robinson) but so much better. What the hell has Powell done to them? I like him and was happy with his appointment but all 3 games so far have been shit.

Lillis won 1 game and in all his games didn't keep a clean sheet. You'd think he was Brian Clough for fucks sake.

Simply Powell's start at this club couldn't have gone much worse
That's not being fickle it is how it is - the only silver lining is that Wigan couldn't convert a chance so we got a point
This week has been a total disaster IMO - need to put it behind us but I worry a rot could be setting in

Ultimately we have failed to capitalise on the positives Lillis brought.
I (along with many on here) said last week, we needed a defender and a striker. Let's keep the same system. We brought the centre back in, we also brought in a left back. That should have the defence sorted. We still need a striker.
What does he do, he changes the whole system for 2 very winnable home games and all the confidence disappears.
Crazy start by Powell, things can only get better

A 3rd manager of the season with a new approach along with very different team selection has been too much for the players. Powell has to do it his way but we have no momentum and compete lack of confidence. Players scared and lost atm. Huge game next week. Not sure how we go about trying to get a win.

Yep, Powell has made life very difficult for himself. It'll take very good management from him to get out of this situation very quickly It could have been so different...

Lillis record as a manager is in a word, awful, even at Town. 8 points in 7 games is relegation form. He steadied the ship, now let him get on with the academy and give Powell the chance to do a long term job.

And that's not to mention his even worse record at Halifax, as a manager and caretaker roles at Stockport and Derby.

I agree, I'd not want him as manager permanently but it's hard to argue that he found something in this side. Whether the players are good enough for this division is another argument but if you had to choose between the current manager and the caretaker based on performances on the pitch what would you do If we are going down I'd rather do it Watford/Reading/Charlton style than Boro/Wigan/ Leeds

Lillis comes in when a previous manager has been sacked, which means the team have been losing and have probably lost all confidence, and has to pick them up. Look at his games this season, he picked them up in his first game to win at Chesterfield, away at Cardiff we played some very good football but just fell below their standard which was unsurprising, Reading was a fantastic performance, Charlton at home we almost won despite having 10 men and playing against 12 men and got a point, Watford we were very good going forward and could easily have won the game, but the defending let us down. The only game under Lillis where we looked a bit clueless was Forest at home in the cup.

Seems like the players are coasting already under Powell. Lillis needs to be brought back into the first team fold asap to work alongside Powell to get some fight and spirit back into this lot!

Would you really want them long term? The guy, Parkes at Blackburn is a classic example. He had about 3 spells as a caretaker, did well in those spells, eventually got the job permanently and lasted about 6 months.

I wasnt particularly calling for Lillis to be given the job today though, I was making the point that I would first much rather watch the games we were playing while Lillis was in charge to what we are suddenly watching at the moment despite it being the same team with the addition of Hudson, and that our performances under Lillis warranted more than just looking at how many wins he got.

Didn't agree with Powell appointment particularly, prepared as always to support but probably the worst start from a new manager I've ever witnessed. Today was a disgraceful performance make no mistake, they toyed with us even with ten. What to do...the squad is plenty good enough imo.
