Just seen a feature on him, he's looking for a club. Could be ideal for a season s back up to Vaughan maybe?

You just never know... No harm in a 3 month deal, and assess in January. He's getting on a bit though. 1 in 4 record in Australia, never going to set the world alight, but a couple of goals and assists. Question is, is he better than what we have?

wouldn't hurt to try, experienced at the highest level and always praised by his strike partners. must be knocking on now though

he might want a club with players that can give him the ball, so were fucked for a start

At first glance it's laughable but the right contract might make it worthwhile - he could (stress "could") be a good foil for Wells and may lift the place. We certainly need to do something so an idea from left field might be worth it.
We need to stop any rot from setting in, cos at the moment it's clear we're on a rather sippery slope and we're covered in lube....

Isn't Ebanks Blake still without a club. I think he's about 28 and a proven scorer at this level. I would rather him than I've fallen on my arse again Heskey.

Would be great but we can't compete with the likes of Rotherham etc...

Heskey worked wonders for Owen for England. Maybe he could have the same effect for Wells.

one of the most underrated players of the last twenty years but is he still up to it? If anywhere near what he was like at his peak I'd snap him up this instant!

Wasn't great over here but was in a dire team. Missed a lot of games through injury.

Clutching at straws, but that is what we have been reduced to

No.
He is shit.
Played 2 years in Australia and couldn't even score goals at that level.

If we can’t find/afford the big forward a lot seem to be demanding would it be too far fetched to see how Matt Crooks does up front as a ‘Hanson-type’ alongside Wells? I admit to not seeing the lad very often and think it was wrong to throw him in at centre back in a championship game, but he seems mobile and comfortable on the ball. He would be a threat in the air and having him up front might mean Smithies can kick down the centre instead of into touch. Worth trying him out in training or bringing on as a sub?

Or Wallace, he's found the net more than most. Or Lynch, pace, power (when he wants) and a hammer of a left foot Sent from my GT-I9505 using proboards

That says it all really! Peter Clarke used to sometimes look better in attack than some of our forwards as he had a go, doesnt mean he should have started in that role though. Heskey had too much unfair criticism in his career as he did a lot of the work to allow a decent strike partner space to attack the goal. A younger Heskey would be great but at 36 and having done nothing of note then it is a risk. Saying that we are in that "take a risk" situation right now as we are too busy doing nothing and maybe a pay as you play deal to see if he can do it and then just sack him off if he is useless, wouldnt cost us much and if it did turn out to work then it would be a masterstroke, if not, quickly forgotten
