Just a thought - seen the penalty on i-player now and (in my opinion) it was pretty soft, but could the crowd behind the goal have influenced the ref? I know the theory (of course not, the ref is entirely impartial) but how many "dodgy pens have we all seen down the years at Old Trafford?

We'd have lost but for the NSL, 3 points in the bag thanks to our efforts. Seriously, maybe it helps the penalty taker having fans behind the goal and maybe it unnerves the keeper a bit. Don't think we made any difference on the penalty claim though.

It's a given that teams get more decisions at home than away, but we benefitted from this many times before the NSL existed... Not sure why 300 people sat there would have more influence than the other 10,000+ sat around the ground. Also not sure Saturday's decision is an example of a crowd influencing a referee as I would expect a penalty to be given to either side for that. The penalty was blatant, though the ref should be able to give the penalty and still book Bunn for going to ground too easily. His over the top fall doesn't mask that he was clearly tugged back though.

To be honest I was stood right in front of the penalty claim and it looked nailed on to me. Was only when I watched it back on the highlights that it looked like a dive. In the heat of the moment, I'd have been disappointed if the ref didn't give it.

I really can't fault the enthusiasm behind this but, while i know it is only in its embryonic stage, it would take 4 times the fans in there on Saturday to create a game changing atmosphere, if you believe it does.

The figures are right Colt, direct from the club. As for changing the atmosphere, ask those that are in there if it's changed the atmosphere and the vast majority will tell you it has. My 4 year old lad is starting songs on a regular basis now, he will grow up with that being the norm whereas we've had a lost generation of home fans who know nothing other than sitting in silence with the occasional ripples of applause, outweighed by jeering misplaced passes, and berating officials. It is embryonic, but it is getting markedly better in there game on game, despite a terrible start to the season on the pitch. I absolutely love it.
