If we can't agree a deal for Holt I'd be more than happy with o'Grady, but I don't see us bringing in both.

Good player. Would happily see him at Town. As said though, we've a few options up there at the moment.

No option over the holt situation he must be signed end of. Best thing we've had since Rhodes upfront IMO

Chris O'Grady. Remind us how he is doing on the south coast?
Just no.

Chris O'Grady. Remind us how he is doing on the south coast? Just no. Grant Holt remind me how he was doing at Wigan? That was a little tongue in cheek, but I assume Holt would be our first choice minus his massive wages! If we can't attract or afford Holt, I think Grady could do a job - that said and in my opinion he will not be of the same quality as Holt! I would take him though!

Many would but he's nowhere near in the same bracket as Holt quality wise.
Holt's a striker who has played in the PL for 4/5 seasons. O'Grady a good League One striker who is lucky to be playing at this level.
I doubt Powell would touch him with a bargepole either.

No disrespect to holt who has been good so far As far as I am concerned the beauty of Holt in the side is that he completely unsettles defenders. JV does a bit and had other attributes, but the whole defence shits itself when Holt gets the ball. I had to laugh when Holt flattened a defender just by leaning into him a bit.

O'Grady would be a fantastic signing.
Think we'll see him on Tuesday at the JSS.

I don't think the problem will be attracting him to the club he has already stated it is a great move for him and it ticks all the right boxes for him, The issue will be coin at the end of the day, Are Town prepared or willing to pay a large wage which i am sure Rhodes was offered the same to stay here, Could be wrong but sure he was and is Holt prepared to take a pay cut to play regular and continue enjoying his game. What could really scupper all of this is if someone else comes in for him.

He got something like 15 goals in 40 games for Barnsley in the championship.....Always plays well against us, a real handful. I know we have options with strikers, but other than Holt they're all quite similar options, i.e. Patterson, Bunn, Wells. I think you need to ask...what happens if Holt get's injured or goes back to Wigan, or even if he gets tired, because this very successful 433/451 formation isn't going to happen without a big strong Forward as a focal point. Ideally I think Town should offload Ward and Patterson to fund O'Grady.

What we need to do is spend some serious money on a younger version of Holt in the January window!

Or what would you do wight the team/formation if Holt got injured? I think that if we got one, then the other would be out of our budget. Hopefully one of Holt and Vaughan would be available. If not, cover that using the loan market. Vaughan, Holt, o'Grady, Wells - not to mention the other attacking options we have in Ward, Lolley, Scanz, Bunn. Bear in mind too that we still have Stead, Carr and Pato on the books too. I just don't see us bringing in 2 centre forwards, particularly when we can afford to leave Wells (yes, I realise he's a different type of striker) on the bench.

I agree our budget would probably mean offloading players first but I don't really think we can count on Vaughan at all anymore, he has to be considered a bonus when fit. So for me, the aim has to be to offload the likes of Stead (not good enough), Pato and Ward (Better players in their position so again arguably not good enough), so we can bring another quality forward in as competition for Holt. Another loan would do.

Sod the budget - we simply cannot be in a position where we have no physical presence up front again in this division. Holt is perfect for us and we should break the bank if necessary. It is no fluke that our form has improved since he went up front and we have someone capable of holding up play etc.

its as important as the Hudson signing..the spine of the team.. defending includes being able to hold the ball in the opposition half and is almost as important as being able to attack from that hold up play..strong, quality centre forward can do two jobs..
