Let's see if he gets any game time. I've watched him play a few times and have yet to see what people rate about him. Hopefully this move will allow him to kick on and show us his alleged potential.

I agree. I've seen him play a fair few times for his own age group and he doesn't boss games like you would maybe expect. We don't seem to know his best position either, he played centre mid and left wing for the u21s last week in the cup, on top of starting at centre half for the first team. Interesting that Hartlepool see him as a midfielder, from what I've seen I don't think he is.

Down as a midfielder in Town's profiles.
Didn't impress against Brighouse or Radclife pre-season (whereas Bunn did). From the moment I saw his name on the team sheet, for the Bournemouth game, I knew we were in bother (and said so before kick-off) I will be surprised if we see him pull on a first team shirt again. So go on Matt, prove me wrong (again). But gook luck to the lad, wherever he ends up.

He was orribly exposed by Robins and the poor displays all around him v Bournemouth so I don't think its fair to judge him on that game. He was the tallest lad on the pitch v Bournemouth which is a good starting point!
CP is exactly right in his comments. He needs challenging at league level where points are desperately needed. He needs the game time and lets hope he gets some on loan....at least more than Holmes seems to be getting.

Pools have made a move to sign talented young midfielder Matt Crooks on a one-month loan deal from Huddersfield Town.
The 20-year-old is a versatile performer and can play anywhere across midfield or in attack but made his Terriers First Team debut at centre-back on the opening day of the current campaign.
Elegant on the ball and with an eye for goal, Crooks has come through the ranks with his hometown club after a brief stint at Manchester United in his early-teenage years.
His ability was nurtured at Town and he was included on the bench for a First Team game at the tender of age of 16 in November 2010 before going on to sign his first professional deal twelve months later.
From the monkey hangers official site, written by a member of his family by the looks of it.

Have to agree with the above comments as I have watched him on numerous occasions and thought he should have the ability to be a game changer but he is not. As with all of these loan moves (Holmes etc) they have the chance to impress so hopefully he learns quickly and is a better player for it.

He's a midfielder or a forward according to Stanley. Told you nobody knew where he plays.

Seen him play 4 times - dire in all 4 and nowhere near good enough. Will join carroll, sinnott, paterson, stead, gerrard in leaving the club permanently either in jan or the summer.

Maybe joining another club will be better for these lads as other clubs will have different approaches to coaching their players to match the need of team play. Huddersfield might not be good enough ... if the manager and coaches don't know what the players roles are , how can they expect the players to play in the correct formation or meet their skills.

I actually see potential in Matty, unfortunately I fear he has played in so many positions he hasn't kicked on majorly in just one & noone is sure anymore of his best position, his versatility has cost him IMO

Problem is, like you say, he's not nailed down a position - and due his age and the competition here i cant really see him making it. think he's probably better off dropping down a few leagues and playing regularly. Like the idea of him as a CB but would need to toughen up a lot - which a few years in the lower leagues could do.
