strictly as a backup plan as Stanmore is the better option. M1 to the end, park at Brent Cross shopping centre and bus 182 to Wembley. n.b the buses after the game are a nightmare at best.

Be there before 10.30 they close the carpark when it is full which is usually around 11

Cheers.is thete any other options just as a back up plan? Anywhere on the Jubilee line is good. We stayed in walking distance of Cannon Park last weekend, which is the next stop to Stanmore. Look on the tinterweb for Janet's B&B, £45 per room per night.

Always used Stanmore for Wembley visits, in fact I've use dit for London trips in general. I try to get there reasonably early, 8-9am and have a look round a bit of London before tubing back up to Wembley for the game. That way you are coming back up in the opposite direction to all those who've got to Stanmore later and the line isn't so busy in that direction until you get closer to Wembley Park so you're not standing the whole way.

Watch it on the TV. In fact scratch that, don't bother watching it all and take the Mrs out for a meal. You'll have a far better evening than watching 2 rubbish international football teams play each other

For play-off final, we parked at High Wycombe, multi storey car park right next to train station, real ale pub nearby, got train straight into Wembley and one straight back after, worked a treat.

I went in the car last week for the Fulham game.It was an absolute nightmare, should have gone on the train. There were 50mph speed restrictions on the M1 in several places.I got to Stanmore at 11am and the station car park was choc a block. No chance at that time. There were restrictions on all the side roads nearby.A bloke just down the road wanted a tenner to park on his drive,I told him to shove it.I suppose the car park will start to clear late afternoon I went a couple of miles down the road to Edgware and parked on a housing estate(no restrictions) just behind the station. This is on the end of northern line,so I don't know if it's any good for wembley. Have a good day out.

I usually park near the wembley fc ground just of the a404 Watford road. Seems to be free parking around there on the side streets. About 15-20 minute walk to the ground. A few pubs on route if you go the harrow road route.

'Later that night as we were getting ready to settle into bed (we were sleeping on top of the covers) we heard strange noises coming from the cupboard like a banging sound. We ignored it at first just thinking it was the dilapidated state of the place but it was keeping us awake. So I walked over and peered inside the cupboard door. To my horror, there was a dirty looking midget hiding inside in his underwear, I recoiled in surprise, the midget then shoved open the door almost knocking me over, kicked me in the shin really hard and ran out of the room.'

Funny really - when you compare Steve's B&B with where I've been stopping for the last few months the gulf is enormous.
Especially when I can name drop and say that the England team are stopping at this gaff for the next 2 nights... Just as I walked out of the bar to go to my room, Roy H passed over the other side of the lobby.
Downside is that my pass to the free beer & food lounge isn't approved for this week...
