Ward should be an established first teamer by now, but he's not.. He's had his fair share of chances & it hasn't worked out.. Time for him to move on & use his wages elsewhere.

Him being such an average footballer who only, to my mind, has had a handful of decent games. Is it not evidence of him doing his job? He's far from perfect, but some of the rubbish written about him on here simply ignores the goals he's scored and assists he's made. The guy has ability and, as Scannell has shown this season, with the right management and probably an improvement in his attitude I think he's capable of performing at this level. That said, I think he'll be moved on in Jan.

But even though uninjured, he hasn't really had a sniff at the first eleven during a pretty disappointing first half of the season. Why would that be if he is so damn good ? Surely we need all our best players on the pitch ?

I don't think he is so damn good, but I do think he is capable of performing at this level. I just take issue with people ignoring (or in Nick's case making out it is some elaborate cover) the positive things he's done for us in the past.

Surely we need all our best players on the pitch ? I didn't say he was 'so damn good' though Ted. He's always been a more than useful squad player in my book, as the number of goals he scores & the assists he made, show. He's not been playing because we've got a number of other options & because of that, it makes sense to move him on in the interests of strengthening the squad overall (particularly the defence).
What really pisses me off though is how some people (not particularly aimed at you) constantly rip into him, blame him for anything & everything, whilst conveniently ignoring the good things he has done.

Is it getting on for FOUR ? Blimey .... Four years.. Not saying he's never done anything positive for us.... But nowhere near enough to say he has been here that long..... We can even forget the price tag and the wage bill if you want, he hasn't produced enough even if he was a free transfer on £3k a week ..... I'm not now not ever having ASSIST STATS so if anyone quotes them I'm not reading.... What I see with is my eyes.... When we signed him on a perm after that pretty good loan spell I was GENUINELY EXCITED... By the end of the last season that had turned to indifference and disappointment... Why we signed him for another year is beyond me... Watford already laying out the towels on the sun loungers might have had something to do with it I dont know... Not our worst ever player or signing by any means... But man the kid had great potential. He anhialated us when at Swindon... If he now fulfils it away from Leeds Road I'll feel a bit cheated ...not think that the Wardy lovers have been vindicated...

It doesn't surprise me that our current manager chooses not to pick him. If he ends up at one of our relegation rivals then I can see a new manager on the horizon.

If the stats don't lie and those quoted in this thread are correct then surely we should drop Scannell for the prolific Danny Ward? Maybe the stats don't tell the full story?

It won't be up to Powell about the team he goes to - if he tells Hoyle he can go, he will go to the team Hoyle chooses to sell to and who ward wants to play for. Don't see how his departure affects powells future?

And a Wizwig one ? Bit fishy ?

the Bingham thread has been moved
the wiziwig is informative and will stay on main page for 24 hours
while we are at it Chris Houghton thread is OK as Brighton are in our division so I deem it on topic
The happy new year thread will be moved in 24 hours to off topic

I'm not saying he's fulfilled his potential or the expectations I had we signed him permanently, which, at the time, felt something if a coup - like Scannell in that respect. I'm not even saying we shouldn't be moving him on, although I do fear he'll do well somewhere else (I don't have that worry with, say, Paterson). It's just the reaction of some fans, to me at least, isn't the view I've had of him and the stats support this (I know you don't like them, but unless you can remember every match exactly as it happened how else can you prove something?). I wouldn't call myself a Wardy lover and when he does leave I'll just feel it's been a wasted opportunity, both for him and us.

When I say " Wardy lovers" I guess I'm talking about the people who have been on this and the countless other ward threads trying to convince me he has been anything other than disappointing.. If it comes across a bit " us and them " then I apologise for the wording I don't feel like that at all.. We all have opinions .. Mine is if Leeds want him then let's do a deal !

terrierdazI always thought Talk of the Town was for all football threads, both Town and non-Town related. That's what it used to say on the title page. If this now isn't the case should we have forums for Town stuff and Off-Topic (which we have) and a forum for non-Town related football chat. All the Leeds threads, Lee Clark stuff, opposition manager talk etc, etc could go in there. Off-Topic should be for non-football stuff only IMO.

Would not like to see Wardy play against us, he would rip shreds out of that defence of ours. Wouldn't worry me in the slightest to see him line up against us. To say he would rip our defence to shreds is about as realistic as saying we'll finish in the top 6 any time soon. You have a short memory, remember Swindon?
