At a loss as to how he has lost his place to Dixon. A far better defender imo.

Likewise. Was doing well. If something isn't broke then you don't try fixing it

Dixon was awful today, our weak link in the side. Should defiantly bring Robinson back into the side IMO.

I've stuck up for Dixon and will continue to maintain he is better than Robinson all round. I genuinely do not think Robinson is any better than Dixon, in fact I've been really disappointed with Robinson, no way is the lad a million pound player.

I thought Dixon had a decent game - supported attacks well, one especially good overlap and some good centres.
defensively I thought he did well with Drenthe - a Dutch International who is only 27 but once cost Real Madrid £12m and played 50 times in their first team. In sum a good player if he's in the mood

Not a million pound player but defensively Dixon isn't even worth six figures. Yes, Dixon may go forward more and suit a 3-5-2 system but when playing a flat back four it has to be Robinson every time. Far far more solid

Left back is our weakest position IMO. Neither Dixon or Robinson are great, Dixon especially seems to be very small and lightweight. Wednesday's full backs on the other hand were big, tough, and fast and were more than a match for Bunn and Scannell. It should be a position we should be looking at in January as a priority.

Perhaps had something to do with Robinson's international duty during the last week. I thought Dixon played soundly after a tentative start. Trust Powell. He's no slouch!

Not controlling simple balls, poor final ball, having to rectify his own errors with last ditch tackles, shocking defensive error letting that header go with Lynch. Need I go on?

I dunno about 'new', I remember he got a load of unfair stick on here after his first home game and seems to have been divisive ever since. I've always quite liked him (especially in a 3-5-2) and have stuck up for him many a time but he definitely has his weaknesses and if I had to be ruthless and look at positions where we could improve I think it's fair to say that his would be fairly high up the list.

I don't think that we shouldn't be looking to strengthen in that position but this fairy story that Robinson is better than Dixon is utter bollocks!!

I can pick issue with Hudson (sat 5 yards behind the line and played a dangerous Wednesday attack on side) and Lynch (hard a good game but two concentration lapses that should have resulted in goals). I can pick examples to suit a point of view however overall all the defence were fine, including Dixon Truth is we kept a clean sheet and Murphy had one save of note to make If Dixon was that bad the keeper would have been more busy

Grew into the game in fairness which is 3 pipes way of saying shite first half, better in the second.
I'd have Robinson in there for his throw ins alone meself.

Thank god we were only playing a toothless Wednesday!

Some comments on Dixon reflect a fixed or bigoted view. It would be very harsh to criticise him today. Solid performance and we had few problems defensively down that side of the pitch. Wednesday looked more threatening down our right where Smith looked a little dodgy position ally at times.

Wednesday looked more threatening down our right where Smith looked a little dodgy position ally at times. Not fixed at all. Changed, in fact. I used to think he was very good. For whatever reason (lack of confidence having been in and out of favour under three different managers?) the lad has definitely gone backwards IMO.

Not much between them. Neither is the answer longer term. Robinson more reliable defender, which isn't a great compliment. Dixon better going forward which isn't saying much either because Robinson doesn't get beyond half way. Expect Powell will get a long term replacement in the summer.

Robinson is decent from what I've seen, get him back in for Bolton.

I'm not defending Dixon as I was disappointed with most of his performance but Lynch apologised to Dixon after than as he had called for the ball hence Dixon leaving it.

There's not much in them. Powell needs to pick one and stand by them for the next 10-15 matches as it doesn't help the team chopping and changing the defence every other game.

Not his best game, but he could have a worldy and people wont give him credit. Too many seem to make their minds up about someone and thats it nowt the player can do will change it

I thought Wednesdays full backs were both superior to our own as Bunn was marked out of the game and Scanell who has recently destroyed defences was for most of the time limited to a few opportunities. Dixon is average in this league at best and all we are doing with Robinson is developing a player for another team. Whilst we cannot afford stand out players I am sure there will be better options out there if not in January but at the end of this season.
