Just calmed down after having to sit through that 90 minutes of total boring rubbish. I agree with a lot of what others have said regarding tactics. I do not think our overpaid players do not care, they are just not good enough for this level of football. Town are trying to do things the correct way in my opinion, its just that no one else cares about FFP. The players we can attract are league 1 players at best, that I am afraid is the level we are at. Sorry for all the doom and gloom but we are on our way to league one next year, we were lucky the previous two seasons to stay up when we had relatively good starts, however that is not the case this season. The upcoming transfer window will be very interesting, I hope we can ship out some of the unused overpaid fringe players and invest in some championship quality, but alas I fear if we do spend money it will be with league one in mind next season.

Our players might not be as good as many in the Championship, but we do have some decent footballers. They may, or may not, be good enough to keep us in this league - only time will tell. I am hoping for some decent additions in the transfer window, but if we are to survive this season Powell needs to take the shackles off. We're short-changing ourselves by playing like we did yesterday. The players may not be good enough over a season, but yesterday they would have been more than good enough to get a win had they been allowed to express themselves a bit more.

I'm kind of with you Andy, but it's such a difficult one for CP. If we go with Bunn, Scannell, Holt & either Vaughan or Wells, then we're just going to be too open. True, we're going to score more, but we're sure as hell going to concede more & the goals against column is horrendous as it is. He probably did get it wrong yesterday (especially given the opposition), but I can understand his thinking, especially considering our lack of pace at the back etc.

He probably did get it wrong yesterday (especially given the opposition), but I can understand his thinking, especially considering our lack of pace at the back etc. There is nothing wrong with keeping things tight - particularly early on - but our lack of willing to get forward when we had the chance was unforgiveable IMO. The time when Holt broke forward in the second half and no one tried to support him summed our approach up for me. At the end of the day only wins will keep us up, and going for wins will always come with some risk. Keeping it tight is not something we are very good at so we might as well attack a bit more. Had we been playing Derby at home I would have been happy with the tactics yesterday, but we were playing Birmingham - another team in the bottom half of the league. If we accept that Powell wants to keep things tight early on, that's fine, but why wait until 75 mins to play with two up front? Having got to half-time at 0-0 (not bad considering our last result) I think he should have seen that Brum were there for the taking and adopted a more attacking approach in the second half. As it was we started the second half slowly, gave Brum the initiative and didn't change things until it was too late and the game was lost. As someone else said yesterday - nothing wrong in getting the tactics wrong before the game (it happens), but its criminal not to change things as the game progresses - particularly when the game is obviously winnable.

I was as disappointed/angry as anyone yesterday but its fine lines, on another day we would have claimed a scrappy three points.UTT
