I've also heard it's all agreed for him, reunited with Wells. Think he's very average tbh, don't get why we would want him. It's the sum of the parts Ant without Dec Morecombe without Wise Boothy without Jepson Hamilton without Rosberg etc

the same james hanson who has been left out if favor of jon stead in recent games? They've been protecting their asset. They don't want to lose the £95,000 (inclusive of all goals, appearances and future international caps) we're giving them. and the 10k per goal?

the same james hanson who has been left out if favor of jon stead in recent games? Yes, the same James Hanson who has apparently NOT BEEN PLAYED because of the impending transfer. He's not cup-tied either, I believe. fair play, as you do seem to be convinced this will happen and have the insight tack, then that does explain it, any idea whether it will be earlier january that he comes through the door if its complete?

CP likes the Holt Hanson big man type striker too, so makes sense.

Apart from his hat trick how many times have you seen Ward trouble defenders? The lad either needs to put in extra work in order to get himself up to scratch or look elsewhere to play first team football. If you look at what Bunn, Scanell, Lolley and Hamill can produce then he is not in their league. As he came for a reasonable fee he will no doubt be on a pretty good salary and does he justify that when he is not in the starting eleven. We have to get numbers and salaries down in order to bring in some quality so if 8 go and 4 good ones come in I am all for that.

Lets hope we get a quality Forward, centre half and possibly left full back. I will keep my fingers crossed we don't buy Hanson as from what I have seen he is not that good in league 1. A left back??? I cannot possibly imagine where we would get a better left back than Robinson - in the games I have seen, he has never been beaten by the opposing winger once. He may not be brilliant going forward but I don't care. If the rest of our back four was the same standard as Robinson, I would expect us to keep 10 clean sheets in the second half of the season.

Average compared to what? Premiership left backs? Certainly a cut above all bar one of the left backs that I have seen this season in the Championship.

Sent from my GT-I9305 using proboards agree we need another rb, likely we will need to move on peltier first though

Regarding the left-back position, it is a position that we will need to address at some stage from now, until the summer with Dixon's contract up at the end of the season and Robinson only on loan.

Regarding Hanson, is he actually any good?! I've not seen much of him but his goalscoring record seems ok, if not spectacular, albeit in lower leagues but he seems a little older than our usual targets. I know we turned down Lambert at a similar age (maybe even older) and we all know what happened to him, but he was banging in 20+ a season.

James Tarkowski from Brentford or Harry Maguire (loan from Hull City) for central defender. Possibly non-starters, but I'd enquire about David Nugent at Leicester, and Marvin Emnes at Swansea for the big centre-forward. Two very promising youngsters to consider for me are Ryan Woods (Shrewsbury) and Tom Nichols (Exeter City) and I know for certain that Town are monitoring them (it looks like Matt Grimes will be off to Swansea for £1.75 million, and Town were watching him too).

Hanson may make sense to the management team. Nothing to lose really. Perhaps there may be a swap with Stead on the cards and he doesn't even have to move house.
I wouldn't be surprised if this happened.

Need quality this January and is Powell is to build a squad he needs the funds, seems he does like a big man but Hanson isn't the the answer he's a bang average footballer if we are going down the route of a target man they at least need to be able to play a bit much like holt, just hope we don't go on the cheap and give CP what he needs.

I see only another forward coming in to replace Holt, because it is clear to most that JV will not see the season out with full availability. I think that will be your lot. We have too many players on the books. So unless we can shift some before hand there will be no other players joining..IMO.

It is a difficult one with full backs these days though, never seem to be real defenders who do all to stop the ball getting into the box, all about getting forward

Exactly my opinion, the situation will probably be move some on before we commit to buying players. We need to get some players off the wage bill firstly. As far as the Hanson / Stead saga I too can see a swap going on or minimal cost. Not my choice but I'm sure a big man would give us different options. Unless Gerrard moves on i cant see us going for another CB.
