I've always seen a good player in Oscar and thought he did really well today and got us on the front foot with quick and accurate passing.

Thought he was poor in first half but much better in second. Did you watch the same game as me? You're commenting on a post I made on the 10th of January. What has that got to do with today's game, in which I thought Gobern did well?

Never been a player ive rated but fair play to him today. Thought he was excellent first half- probably the best ive seen him play in our shirt. Its a shame he can't last a a full game. Don't know whether its a in-born stamina issue he just can't resolve, but hes done after an hour each time he starts. Credit to him today for slogging on til the end but you can see him physically wilt as the match clock hits 60 mins.

Probably because he's never 100% match fit from playing once in a blue moon.

Not so long ago Scanz was that 'impact sub' type who you would never see playing/starting. Oscar is a good player and could be good for us. I'm certain he will get a new contract as I believe Powell likes him.

Should be told you've earned a stint......the shirt is yours for the rest of the season, now go and prove you deserve to wear it regularly next year too IMO. Was excellent in his last home game but we brought bloody Edgar in to replace him and he's been barely seen since - baffles me, given billing is supposed to be the heir apparent, never mind oscar!!

I don't particularly like him but cannot grumble at yesterday's performance.
No way would I be offering him another contract on the back of that though.

Great play in the goal?! Whats with all the stick this guy gets? Might be the fact he has had £1.5 million in wages in 5 years with 3 or 4 decent matches from just 65 appearences. Never seen a footballer.

Not his biggest fan but all credit to him he was excellent yesterday. Light years away from having to watch the piss poor Edgar in the midfield, deserves to start a few games.

Its all there on Wiki, 40 games in 4 seasons. The fans dont rate him, he cannot make the team under 4 different managers (so they dont rate him) and he has stolen a living (just multiply £250k a year over 5 years). Will disappear to non-league when his contract expires. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oscar_Gobern

I seem to remember he was one of the many players Hoyle has criticized at supporters' meetings, which I felt put unnecessary pressure on the manager if he wanted to pick him (not to mention the player's own motivation). More fuel to the fire that CP might leave? Gobern - obviously not played enough, seen him play well mainly with a few poor moments thrown in.

The lad played well against one of the top championship sides - likley he'd excel at Div one, but I now have a sneaking feeling he'll be a "keeper"*. Time (and Oti's gloating) will tell? *As in - one who is kept, not a GOAL keeper!

He's not helped in fans' eyes by his record as mentioned above. At times I've thought, "why is he here?. Recent performances have shown that there is a player there, and shows perhaps why Nigel Adkins rotated him (admittedly in the third division) with none other than Adam Lallana. Unless he's going to ask for silly money, I'd keep him on the assumption that he's not going to do a "Ben Thornley" and stop trying once he's put pen to paper...

I've got to say I've been very critical of oscar in the past but in the two games I've seen him play this season (Rotherham away and Ipswich at home) he has actually played very well! But in all honesty this kid has been at town a long time now and hasn't done enough for me! I'd be looking to move him on at the end of the season!

Oscar always has a good game when he comes into the team
But never kicks on - always seems to go downhill after game 3/4.
Had his best spell last season
I don't think he deserves the stick he gets but I'd rather he was let go and we bring another midfielder in and let the younger lads develop. For the same reason I see little value playing him the rest of the season
For those who say he's playing in Higgs defensive midfield slot, he isn't, Coady plays deeper than Hogg when both playing.

Hang on... on that basis he's fourth in the queue out behind Wells, Vaughan and Scannel who were all clearly shagged and had given up on actual effort well before Gobern 'wilted'!?
Not that I hold it against any of them, hot conditions and we'd played a high tempo, draining, pressing game for pretty much 60 mins, gambled that we'd win whilst sapping the heart out of Ipswich and it worked, with neither team able to summon the real physical or mental energy to do much in the closing few minutes.

How Scannell wasn't subbed around 80 mins I'll never know. Put in another great shift, but was struggling to get beyond our right back never mind theirs at this point.

From what I've seen of Oscar i would like him to stay. He has frustrated me at times, he was often having a good game then ruin it by a gaff but that was some time ago. He adds bite and his passing is good as he looks to play the ball forward. I think its unfair to talk about fitness the more he plays the fitter he will become and i would rather see him stay than adam lets dribble and lose the ball in my own half hamill.
