As I say regularly I can't be doing them. Mark Lawn makes me feel physically sick.. So it's been funny to hear him whining on all the news networks about how hard done to BCFC have been due to tv preferring the villa and west brum games over theirs.... I have to say though .....
It's an appalling decision..
Don't spout on about the magic of the cup
Then see the biggest cup upset of all time slip through your fingertips
Then in the next round neglect the giant killers at home for all premier league borefests
Makes me chuckle to see Lawns face turn the colour of violet Beauregard ... But he's right

Should be a warning before he comes on TV wearing that tie with a shirt that is equally awful.

What on earth would make anyone pick Aston Villa vs Leicester I thought the same but as soon as the draw was made I got a message from a mate who was originally from Coventry banging on about what a draw it was and how it was tie of the round. Have to admit I didn't know about their rivalry.

Villa v Leicester makes sense, local game. Man U away to a league 1 club (assuming they get through) and Arsenal v Boro also seem fair enough. Not sure how the Bradford match hasn't got ahead of Palace v Victimpool or West Ham v West Brom though, seemed to be the classic FA cup tv draw - lower league club at home v prem.

OP is right.
Was always going to be an issue when the big clubs go out; Chelsea, Man C, Spurs, Leeds, Weds...

If they could guarantee Bradford v Sunderland it would probably be a live tv game, but theres every chance it will Bradford v Fulham which unless you're a fan of either club has very little appeal to anyone.

It's not about City for me, it's about the TV companies favoring the PL teams in general, i'd much prefer to watch City v Fulham/Sunderland other than West Brom or bloody Leicester.
I thought the FA cup was a chance to let all football clubs shine and perhaps give the lower league clubs a chance to hit the lime light for doing well instead of the usual PL games being aired.
TV companies and Money - Ruining the game yet again.

What on earth would make anyone pick Aston Villa vs Leicester I would not watch that game if it was played on the local park. Absolutely appalling decision.

I disagree.. though it galls me to say it Bradford .. and Cambridge .. are this years "peoples teams".. Canvass neutrals and im sure more will want to see Bradford Fulham than villa Leicester.

How many games in a season do Liverpool FC play that are not live on telly? (I'd guess about 6) How many cup ties do Liverpool FC play that are not live on telly. (I'd guess zero).
Makes me laugh that MU get so much stick for having fans across the country and LFC get none. TV execs know who the armchair fans support I suppose. Not that MU are any different.

It's just another example of how Sky have ruined the game. They get to show live Premiership games every week so when BBC or ITV get the chance to do it through the Cup then they'll do it for the majority of ties unless it's a real David and Goliath one.

Sky haven't ruined the game. Theyve promoted it MASSIVELY and transformed it from the dying wreck it was in the 80s. Its the people who get the money Sky pump into football that are the problem, not sky. The BBc have no obligation to chase viewing figures like commercial stations have to. If they choose to put prem teams on, thats just down to them, nothing to do with sky.

I know it will never happen but I think the live televised games should be drawn at random at the time of the cup draw itself. Easy to do - first 4 ties drawn would be "it".
(The tv companies are looking for "shocks" but if you could predict them they wouldn't be shocking.)

odd that the bbc seem to want to go to the grounds of underdogs and talk you through proud but rather undistinguished historys and talk to what always seems to be the local idiot and his family outside the ground, then don't do it when they get the chance in a later round of the competition???
villa v Leicester?? might get interesting after 90 minutes of the replay...2 corners a pen might help??
Bradford will jolly well have to crack on and win and hope to get the BBC to come and risk having their equipment stolen in the next round..

In a similar vein to the "why AV vs Leicester" query, I can never understand why SKY and BBC never recognise the West Yorkshire Derby. They will happily screen other Yorkshire derbies, but even the info for BBC Football League Show on Saturday night goes for "Matches include Cardiff v Derby, Brentford v Middlesbrough and Bournemouth v Watford" I can see a couple of top of the table-ish clashes there, but Cardiff v Derby?

They did a few years back in league 1 (bbc). I'm quite glad sky don't show it, would only reduce the gate.

We were scheduled to play them on sky, but that idiot ran on the pitch at Wednesday and sky were told to back off by the plod.

Embarrassing to hear lawn crying to the various media outlets about it all. It's as if he had spent the tv cash already. sure I read somewhere today he's asking an MP to get involved. Village!
