Have to agree! Pritchard has been a great loan signing for them! Torel from arsenal as well, plus in league one forshaw and bidwell from Everton before both became permanent they use it very well to add to the squad

anyone wonder if we'll be a side of promoted academy products next season? Powell doesnt seem like the type of manager to give young uns a proper go (as it could mean doing something slightly different)

I'd be interested to know how much Brentford's squad cost? It's not all about money. We have a decent squad, in my opinion it's all down to the mentality of the club from top to bottom at the moment. Totally agree it isn't all about money, Forest, Wigan, Man Utd, Prem Clubs in Europe, etc. back that up. However, I don't agree with your comment about the mentality at the club and what is also no doubt an accusation thrown at so called 'happy clappers'. No-one is going to be 'happy' with this season if we carry on as we are and most will have specific concerns/issues, including DH himslef. I was critical of the Edgar signing from the start, do feel Powell is too conservative and would prefer to have seen academy players given a go, rather than putting squad players in one of their lesser positions. However, it's simply that some of us accept there are other clubs all trying to do the same things, whilst all other things being equal we aren't a team with a financial advantage, so it's not as easy as Terrierrpark, MallyB, Readingterrier, etc make out. Doesn't mean we're happy, just we don't 'expect' and act all histerical. DH appears to have chose to play the long-game, feeling the odds of succeeding with the boom or bust approach are minimal for a club with our clout. Therefore, if the academy doesn't pay-off (I'd argue we should expect to see a return from now), then we can say he may have been better looking at the short-term, as much as for every Brentford and Bournmouth there are more Forests, Wigans, etc. I know what you're saying mate and I'm nowhere near hysterical (yet). Even if we don't sign anyone in the summer, id like CP/DH to come out with a signal of intent like 'we're aiming for the playoffs this year'. Even if he doesn't actually believe it, it puts some needed pressure on the players. How often do you see teams in a relegation battle playing out of their skins? Coming out at the start with 'it's a tough league' etc plants a seed of content I'm sure in the players. We've proven that on our day we're good enough to compete, so surely it doesn't come down to money/technical ability - for me it comes down to mentality.

For me, I really hope whoever we sign is not coming here to be a squad player. We need 3/4 additions who can go straight in the first team. Don't want to see the academy lads paths blocked and would much rather see Billing, Boyle, Holmes, Charles etc etc making the bench than some average journeymen. That also means offloading the likes of Gobern, who at the moment is just blocking Billing's route into the first team.

The thing with Hoyle or Powell coming out saying we are aiming for the play offs next season is that more likely than not it will come back to bite them on the backside and a number of fans (on here in particular) will use it to have their digs whenever we lose a game or don't win when we think we should. We could finish 12th and probably been a good season yet this would get thrown at them as a failure.

Keep hold of Miller and bring in a quality centre half and two wing/full backs, That's all we need imo, Time for some of the Academy lads to step up to the plate. I certainly do not want to see us sign the likes of Jonnie Jackson or Chris Solley. Heres hoping we can move gobern on, And fingers crossed Hudson will be tempted back down South by somebody. Why not Chris Solley out of interest? Has plenty of ability does that lad. Jackson is probably on the way down in his career and doubt he'd venture up north either. Probably not mobile enough either, but he has got very good set-piece delivery - something we lack. I think Gobern will go, much as I think there's a player there who could become very accomplished at this level - just don't think his injuries have helped and how long do we wait, when we have one or two in the Development Squad who deserve an opportunity to step-up? Hudson hasn't been as solid as we all hoped and expected, but I certainly wouldn't be looking to get rid, although I wouldn't necessarily be looking for him to be playing 40+ games next season either. The Miller conundrum is an interesting one and I guess it will be determined by the money available and the targets in mind for other areas. The fact that we were in for Le Fondre suggests we have aspirations for a 'box' striker - wouldn't be at all surprised to see Wells lining up in Claret and Blue next season. Miller gives us something we don't have - decent hold-up man with a bit of mobility. Without Holt's introduction earlier in the season, we'd possibly have been in the Bottom 3 now and we do need that type of striker. I like Miller, but the key thing is keeping him motivated and giving his all - if Powell thinks he can do that, then Miller should be one of his first signings.

I'm expecting Powell to be given very good backing by Dean in the transfer market as per usual. Whether Powell can sign the correct type of player and build a successful team is open to debate. The jury is still out, especially after the quality of his signings to date. It's also about time Town unearthed some gems and stopped looking for 'experienced championship players'. I'm sick of hearing that and I'd like to see us cherry pick hungrier players from L1 and L2 or younger PL players either permanent or loan. Bournemouth and Brentford have proved quality at L1 level can very often be effective in the league above and even higher. I'm not sure why we have this obsession with proven championship players, football is football, you need some knowledge of the league but you can achieve most things with a handful of experienced players. As has been mentioned towns senior player recruitment has been hit and miss and thats being kind despite us having super scout Ross on board, looking forward to some fresh thinking. What isn't in doubt is Deans commitment, he'll back the manager and pay the fees and wages as he always does and expect them to perform. Hopefully they will.
