Could anyone have kept Blackpool up on £2.79 and an out of date sausage roll? Hardly Clarke to blame here. How the owners got away with pumping the Premiership cash into their own business is more pertinent. I think people forget, when Riga left they weren't actually doing all that bad, lots of 0-0 draws here and there But then half a season later after Lee Clark has been in charge of them, they turn from a struggling team to something considerably worse, but of course, the fact that he appears to have made them worse gets overlooked, just as it did when he was at 'struggling-financial disarray' Birmingham. And that is exactly why Lee Clark is suited to these such clubs, it suits him to appear blameless.

All these fans criticising Clarky have very short memories, because he's been the best manager we've had over the past 10 years or so.
Just in case some of you have already forgotten his record at Town;
2008/2009 - Took over on 12/12/2008 and we finished ninth in the league, losing only 2 home games. 2009/2010 - Won three manager of the month awards and took us to the League One play-off's, where we lost out to Millwall in semi-finals. 2010/2011 - Finished third in League One and took us to play-off final at OT, where we missed out to Peterborough. 2011/2012 - Took us on a 43 match unbeaten run, which was a football league record and was then rewarded with the sack, by a trigger happy owner, who then brought in Larry to steal Clarky's glory at Wembley. Lets be honest, IT WAS Clarky's team that won the penalty shoot our against Sheff Utd AT Wembley, to win promotion to the Championship.
So there you have it - can anyone list a more successful Town manager than clarky over the past umpteen years or so, because I can't and he also won almost 50% of all the games whilst he was in charge.
He also certainly put Town in the shop window and his record is not to be sniffed at, unless his dissenters are a bunch of Ostriches, who begrudge him any credit for what he did for Town. Non of the other manager's we've since had, such as Larry, Robins & Powell can "hold a candle" to him, because had he still been in charge we certainly wouldn't have been the perennial relegation scrappers, which we have now become over the past three seasons
IN WOR LEE I TRUSTED.

Seem to remember it was nearer 46%.
As Ted says, there is a context to it but you can only beat what's in front of you.
Truth about Clarky is somewhere in the middle, he wasn't the second coming but he wasn't as bad as jokers like megagob make out.

His record was: P178 - W87 -D51 - L40

He turned a play off team into a team that was two minutes from being relegated last season. He was sacked and then took a job at another struggling side. There's a definite pattern there. And don't trot out the financial card either. If he was as highly rated as he thinks he is then he wouldn't be having to resort to accepting jobs with the likes of Birmingham and Blackpool.

Simon Grayson- promotion to championship. Mark robins-maintained league status in 2nd tier with leave one squad.

The jury is still well and truly out on Powell so far, very average, says same thing after every game, never sounds emotional at all, like a machine.

Say what you like, but you can't take Clarky's record at Town away from him and his record speaks for it's self, or perhaps you'd care to list any other Town managers with a better win percentage? - after all, the game is all about winning, or am I missing something?

Bit reluctant to carry this on as I've come to see Lee Clark as like the god concept- some believe in the existence of god some don't and the two sides will never meet. That said, yes it's all about winning- winning promotion. Winning games is great but the endgame was always promotion. Grayson did well to get that squad up in the end imo. (Ink you skin of our teeth) Looking at how many we retained a year on in the campionship compaired to say charlton a year earlier, shows that it wasn't a strong squad imo. Only JR, hunt, Morrison, smithies (possibly PC) could be classed as championship players. I could say a lot more but really there's no point. Been done to death this one, many times. We can all rightly keep our own opinions.

Clark might have helped his own luck by playing a shit hot striker at old trafford rather than a 17 year old kid.

I notice that Grayson is getting lucky for a FOURTH time at Preston this season... No 753 game unbeaten runs but 4 promotions ... Give me that kind of luck any day of the week as opposed to blind faith in a manager with ZERO promotions on his CV
