It's not exactly unreasonable to ask them not to black their face up, is it? The suggestion may definitely be patronising to the majority of their supporters, but we all know that every club has their share of uneducated and senseless fans, so the pre-warning could perhaps be necessary and/or justified. I don't see what Kick It Out have done wrong here – was Sol Campbell involved? Dressing up as Bob Marley is fine, but blackface is a bit of a loaded issue. (3 point deduction for anyone who mentions Laurence Olivier in Othello.)Kick it Out have made it an issue out of nothing again. What has it got to do with them anyway? If there is as much racism in football as they suggest then surely they have better areas to be focussing on. Few if any would have blacked up but I'd love them all to rock up like it now. They've had complaints sent through to them, so it's in their interests to follow up those complaints and issue a broad statement, not to ignore them and focus on a "better area". Can't fault 'em for that.

How about they give the folk who have complained a cuddle, tell them to sit tight & see if they actually have anything to complain about after the event. And then if they do happen to find anything distasteful tell them to deal with it.

Surely the question should be 'have Kick it Out ever got it right'?

Can someone explain exactly why it would be racist to colour your face brown to make you look more like Bob Marley than you would if you left it white/pink (with blotchy red bits around the cheeks)?
I can understand the black and white minstrel thing - quite clearly offensive and unnacceptable - but some blokes going to a football game as Bob Marley and trying to look as much like him as possible? Is this really racism?
Please explain ...

What its got to do with Kick It Out is that some folk found it necessary to get in touch with them about it, so they really had a duty to inform the clubs that there had been complaints raised, no matter how few there were or whether the complaints are misguided or not.

Kick it out- a load of people who make a good living out of 'fighting racism'. If they want to carry on being on that particular gravy train they HAVE to find racism to fight, so as a result they find it anywhere and everywhere and exaggerate beyond all reason any they come up with.
All helps to feed the victimised, offended, discriminated against chip on the shoulder so many ethnic minorities are almost taught to have- A prick like Sol campbell being a classic example. Sadly he'll be a role model for an entire generation of young black lads, teaching them how they can blame everything they don't like that happens to them on their skin colour.
Sadly there's plenty of PC obsessed white people in positions of influence ( journalists, politicians, comedians etc) who are equally determined to be 'offended' on their behalf and play along with the charade.
