Double standards. When I read articles like those above I have no respect for Kick it out.

Don't forget that only white people can be racist, just like only men can be sexist. Like you say it is a total double standard along the same lines as positive discrimination which is bollox.

... and don't bother going to an anti-racism rally either if your white and male! It's a real shame that the following link came from the Mail. Funnily enough I couldn't find a link to the Guardian or the BBC. Goldsmiths Uni Rally

Sol must be kicking himself. If he'd thought of this face whitening lark earlier, he could have been England captain as he (thinks he) so richly deserved.

Hartlepool's statement quantifies that number of complaints about possible blacking up - FIVE. What a messed up society we live in.

The blackface issue comes up every Halloween. It may be perceived as pc gone mad by some, but in the past people donned black make up to ridicule black people, so it's fairly simple to see why it could be regarded as derogatory.
It seems there was no indication of any Hartlepool fans 'blacking up' for the match, so the prior warning seems unnecessary. Though I suppose that anyone turning up with black face paint on can't plead ignorance when they're rightfully turned away now.
Sol Campbell is an utter pillock, and I think he has aired prejudiced views on a couple of occasions. I wish people were capable of ignoring the likes of him and that Katie Hopkins, rather than fuelling their careers with their outrage.

I'm not offended by it and I don't think anyone should be, whichever colour you paint your face. I'm sure the average person isn't offended by it, people should stop putting such much emphasis on skin colour and saying you can't do this and that. I just see it as a different hair colour, do people get offended if you dye your hair blonde? No it's bloody stupid.

The world has gone utterly bonkers!!! Are we going to stop ginger wigs and kilts depicting the scots, or leprechaun outfits for the Irish because it may offend them......Jesus wept!!!!! If this country doesn't accommodate minorities well enough, or provide opportunities to black managers then why don't folks like Campbell move somewhere that does .....eg Italy or Russia!!!! Racism isn't acceptable full stop.....But how about starting with the worst offenders instead of banning folks in fancy dress having a bit of harmless fun!

Confused on two counts.
1st how does a black man painting his face white encourage another black man that he should vote?
2nd if somebody decides to dress up as a black person at a fancy dress, why is blacking the face to make the effect more realistic deemed offensive? But if Eddy Murphy whitens his face in a film to play a character, it's funny.

Doubt he'll be so happy when I get the Nitromors out to get the black Hammerite back off tho'.

There's irony here in the fact that Marley had a white European father.
Not that it should matter at all.

Where did they get the make up artist from - the circus?
If I was that shade of white I'd be checking myself into the funeral home.

I thought it was a wind up when I first heard about it, then saw the statement on Carlisle's website. How could anyone 'blacking up' as a black man be in any way racist or offensive? Some people seem to have the mindset that if they aren't offended by something every day that their life isn't worth living. So what happens if a load of black Hartlepool fans went to an away game dressed as........Jeff Stelling and 'whitened' their faces for it because he's white? Nothing, obviously, because *sarcy voice on* racism is only ever done by white people towards black people and never the other way around *sarcy voice off*

It's not exactly unreasonable to ask them not to black their face up, is it? The suggestion may definitely be patronising to the majority of their supporters, but we all know that every club has their share of uneducated and senseless fans, so the pre-warning could perhaps be necessary and/or justified. I don't see what Kick It Out have done wrong here – was Sol Campbell involved?
Dressing up as Bob Marley is fine, but blackface is a bit of a loaded issue.
(3 point deduction for anyone who mentions Laurence Olivier in Othello.)

If there is as much racism in football as they suggest then surely they have better areas to be focussing on. Few if any would have blacked up but I'd love them all to rock up like it now.
