It is inevitable that Town will have "doom-mongers" following them, thus was it ever. It is also inevitable that some will think with a multi-millionaire chairman money should be no object. On the flip side I think all Town fans should expect a team to have spirit and character and play for each other and the shirt, do that and most will be happy.
I have realistic expectations but within our budget and with our current squad it is not unreasonable to expect a relatively comfortable lower mid table spot i.e. not flirting with relegation. With a bit of effort and belief we could do better. Anything less isn't good enough though.
I think one quality centre half could make the world of difference to our team, if DH can push the boat a little more that is where I think we could significantly benefit and give our undoubted talent the ability to push on. If CP got that player, for me, he would have little excuse in delivering an entertaining and reasonably competitive team in this league (allowing for a decent run on injuries).
The doom and gloom come from those who:
1 - Will always moan - whatever 2 - Will never accept our budget limitations
I would just welcome that season where the 18 who get selected each week have massive belief and play for each other - simple things that take you further than expected. Belief comes from within and from those around you. I will never criticise someone moaning if they see a Ipswich season before last or a Birmingham last season performance - no excuses in either case.
Get behind the team and keep it real.

Interesting comments about spirit and character.
I think maybe more importantly than getting the right players in (although that makes everything easier of course), the club is lacking a 'definition' or 'culture' somewhat.
As fans it's easier (especially when things aren't going too well results wise) to get behind the team if we "get it", if we can see what the club is trying to achieve and understand how it's going about doing it.
I honestly have not really felt this is 'my team' since the days of Cowan and Trevitt etc. They weren't the most talented players across the board, but there was something cohesive about then as a unit that you could get behind.
We came closer to that a few years later in the Stewart, Gorre, (and even) Baldry teams (its not about being good footballers necessarily), and then again with Nathan Clarke, Schofield and Sodje, but theres a distinct lack of what we are as a club and a distinct lack of a talisman, where are the Boothy and Peter Clarke type players in the 2015/16 Town.
Someone needs to tell us 'what is Town', and they need to tell us that by talking pointedly about it and demonstrating it regularly on the pitch.
We know were rubbish on Saturday, we'd probably like to understand why, but more importantly we want to know that something is being done to reduce the likelihood of it happening once the season gets underway. What are we doing differently this week to last week?
I want a team of Terriers, of heroes who enjoy playing football and try and play football in an attractive expansive way, who can get stuck in when they need to, and who will bust a gut with work ethic to lesson the impact of any technical or athletic deficiency's we may have compared to our more expensively assembled opponents.

I totally get this - in truth we need a "Buxton" for this new generation. Players who will engage the supporters in the same way as players like Kindon, Brown, Robins etc...did...different era, some will say long gone but it's what the club needs.

Why not just have a DATM area for pessimists? The proper season has not even started yet there are eternal moaners who have nothing constructive to offer but miserabilism. If at this stage of the summer you're all feeling so down, then I suggest you give your hearts, minds and sanity some respite and find something else to to do - purely for the sake of your health. I've got my tickets for Hull and I say bring it on...if you can't find even a sliver of optimism at this time of the year then I would suggest that you're 'supporting' the wrong team....or just stay at home and watch the super duper Premiership where there's thrills, spills and success guaranteed - just pick a top four club and off you go....

On here before a ball as been kicked......unbelievable.....we have too many moaners on here and I,m sure none of the moaners could manage a pub team....take our club for what it is a top 3rd division team or bottom half of the championship, any thing else is a bonus.....people on here talk a good game and its quite amusing reading some of the comments. ..i bet these are the people that slag our players off whilst trying to perform on the pitch......these in my opinion are the same group that boo the team off at full time....its really unbelievable......we all pay our money to watch a mediocre football team......we are never never going to be world beaters,so its about time people got there heads round this.....amen.....get behind the lads when you attend the match. !!!!!!UTT..... Jimm....mac....just a ...quick....question..why..do you..always..use full stops..everywhere...
