On here before a ball as been kicked......unbelievable.....we have too many moaners on here and I,m sure none of the moaners could manage a pub team....take our club for what it is a top 3rd division team or bottom half of the championship, any thing else is a bonus.....people on here talk a good game and its quite amusing reading some of the comments. ..i bet these are the people that slag our players off whilst trying to perform on the pitch......these in my opinion are the same group that boo the team off at full time....its really unbelievable......we all pay our money to watch a mediocre football team......we are never never going to be world beaters,so its about time people got there heads round this.....amen.....get behind the lads when you attend the match. !!!!!!UTT.....

There was never none of this in the old days and we were proper shit.....i know there was no internet and mobiles ect ect but I never used to hear a bad word about the team at a match.....infact we used to applaud them off having played absolutely crap.....get a grip....i know you pay your money for a season ticket but don't expect a messi or a Rooney.....just set off to the game, make the most of it,enjoy yourself......win lose or draw we are still proud to support this great football club....amen.......jimmymacs a w@@@ker......

Come on though mate. Conceding 7 goals in 2 games to Grimsby and Rochdale is hardly going to bring out the optimists is it!
This team is crying out for a quality defence and if conceding 70 goals last season only warrents adding Cranie to it then I find myself wondering If our management even have a clue.
P.s the left back doesn't count as he is replacing an outgoing player

It's hard to take you serious when you've been on here in the past throwing your toys out of the pram more than any other poster at some of our performances

The last bit of your post is spot on! I know.... Joking aside Jimmymac, all the fans on here care about our club. We all have different views and have seen more downs than ups, i have supported them for 55 years and still have a good moan now and then! Yes it is pre season and all that, but we do have a massive problem with our defending and to be honest 3 years in the waiting many feel it should have been addressed this summer with a quality centre back!

You never know, the club might be looking into bringing in another CB yet, still over a month to go until the window closes.. Would probably mean Wallace could be sold or loaned, which wouldn't be the end of the world, maybe a loan to league 1 or SPL would do him some good in his development?

Every player would have at least 30% more to offer in a competitive game than a friendly....people are reading into this far too much. friendly's are a joke......

Most people are still looking at towns woeful defensive record from last season which is an even bigger joke.. Even worse is the fact that Powell has failed to bring in a central defender who actually has the ability to do the job. The team need to be tested at the highest level long before the Hull game especially the fitness levels which will be vital. I often wonder if the squad is making full use of the multi million canalside facilities which were put in place for a reason.

The last bit of your post is spot on! But the first bit isn't. I remember lots of full-time (and half time) booing of the team in the 80s and 90s, and reasonably regular booing of individual players DURING a game during the play or when sub's made etc. Football is generally the same as it always was, just that what used to be a 15 minute conversation pre and post game with your mates only is now a conversation that effectively lasts 24hrs all week with the clueless idiots and the eloquent intelligentsia all having the same outlet, which effectively gives us the ability to stand in the corner of that virtual post match pub and have *everyone* listen to our ramblings, inane or not. Atmosphere at games was often (mostly) pretty crappy too. Throw in that those ramblings are then analysed and quoted as though they are legal documents then its no wonder things often get het up. In 1986, someone making a ridiculous assertion or with an opinion that made no sense to scrutiny would be laughed at / argued back at for 2 mins, and then we'd move on to the next topic. And certainly, specific words or phrases someone had used 2 months ago wouldn't be brought out on a sheet of paper, and pointed at with a, "but you said this" accusation, demanding of explanation. Everything seems to be mandated that we have black and white unflinching opinions nowadays, if you write something derogatory about a particular player, that, as far as everyone else is concerned, becomes your static and narrow outlook on that player from that point forever more, which you are honour bound to defend. Back in the day, I'm sure plenty of us laughed at Iffy O's ridiculousness one minute, before hero worshipping with an "Iffy...Iffy..." chant the next, and the post match conversation followed that kind of flow too. I think we've simply reached a new era of social inclusion but we haven't learned the communication skills that need to be developed alongside that. And this is why I will continue to happily jump to conclusions about a player having seen him have a 45 minute run out in pre season. Because that's exactly what we as football fans should be doing!! We need to be the excitable ones spouting "feast" or "famine" on a whim...the club doesn't need unquestioning, happy clappy support, it needs passion and fandom...we need to be wound up by our heroes and witness the lows so we can appreciate the relative highs.

thing is we can all be as positive as we want, but you know that as soon as we play the first game at the John Smiths this season it'll be like a morgue. What we need are some of these.

He might have given a list of names he'd be happy with coming in but it's not up to him to then go out and get the player. He may also have been given a list of names that we could potentially get and decided none of them are good enough. It's very easy to have a go at Powell over transfers (and certainly when it can be used as a good tool to hammer him with....) but it's a very old fashioned way of looking at how a football club and football in general works.

Don't think they are but fitness shouldn't be a problem Sugy, from my vantage point on Kilner Bank I can make out the entire squad running up and down it giving one another piggy backs. Holmes is struggling with Lynch on his back though.

It's definitely "the Club" rather than "Powell". Whether that's the new Ross Wilson, the Manager, the Board's policies - or a combination of all three. We do need one though, obviously, otherwise we'll likely concede 70+ goals again.

The problem is CP is up against clubs who have money from Sky and money talks, why else would Reece James choose Wigan over us. If and its a big IF!! Rhodes goes to M'boro CP will bring in a quality player and i'm not really worried yet, but come the end of August and we have conceded 20 goals with 0 points, then i will be worried.
