Surely a Velodrome would be far better used than a dry ski slope and would be a comparable cost ? Always though Hudds could do with a sportcity like Manchester. Will never happen now the new sports centre has been built

Surely a Velodrome would be far better used than a dry ski slope and would be a comparable cost ? A good quality dry ski slope would be popular imo. The real snow slopes at Manchester and Sheffield are ridiculously expensive, and boring. A decent length slope on the Kilmer bank with proper snow park area would pull in a lot of people, don't forget the slope at Halifax which is only very short has produced Olympic medalists.

Burying your head in the sand when it's plainly obvious the messiah has pulled the plug some months ago. Keep clapping and avoiding the truth eh? "smithies is not for sale", "Butterfield is not for sale", "the club is not for sale"... Yeah right, more like "we've not liquidised enough assets to sell yet". What's that got to do with canals ?

It's had its ups and downs, but I think it will find its own level.

What's left to discuss on that subject? Someone claimed DH is looking to sell the club, DH denied it and said if someone came in who could take the club forward he'd listen to them (same as he's always said). You can either take him at his word, or choose to believe he's lying. If you had a valid point, it would be lost by your continuous insistence on using the pathetic phrase "happy clappers".

Why respond to him Walter? Possibly because I'm the only one left using the thread trying to discuss the actual subject of the opening post. It seems the subject of what has happened to the Smithies and Butterfield money needs to be swept under the carpet, so rather than getting one of the admins to delete the thread, the usual suspects are just derailing it. The asset value of the squad has dropped by around £9M over this summer. What is it worth now under £5M? Scannel and Wells maybe have worth, but I can't see us getting much of a fee for any of the other non-loaned players.

Although the asset value has gone down, what has yet to materialise is if we're in a better/worse/same position on the field of play due to the sale of the assets.

Scannel and Wells maybe have worth, but I can't see us getting much of a fee for any of the other non-loaned players. What a load of utter rubbish, every single bit of it. Questions were raised regarding ownership of certain bits and aspects of the clubs accounts. Some questioned Deans motives, others said there was no issue. I've read this thread twice over and from what I've seen you're the only one who has referred to Dean as the messiah. And to make it clear, I don't think no fucker on this earth is a messiah. What you need to understand is that not every town fan puts a negative spin on every aspect of the club. It's been made perfectly clear by posters such as Mids (who with all due respect, knows a damn sight more about the clubs shares than I do and I'd hazard a guess knows a bit more than you as well) and Smithfield that there isn't an issue here at all and that its been misinterpreted by a few who have even had the decency to own up to their error. There isn't a diversion tactic, it's called humour. It seems to me that you're trying to make it fashionable to hate on everything at this club, it's the sort of stuff that boils my blood in all honesty and one of the major reasons why I refrain from posting and even reading this forum now. Whilst I don't agree with absolutely everything that's gone on in Deans tenure, he and the board have got ALOT more right than wrong. Two camps have developed on this forum, 'happy clappers' and 'doom and gloom merchants'. There appears to be nothing in between. I try to see everything as I see it but I'll never be swayed by your anti Dean anti club anti Beckford bile. And as for the 'lost money', it's not lost is it? When one man spends £37m, that's THIRTY SEVEN million and counting on getting this club from the hands of a crook and into the championship with training facility that's second to none and a playing squad that's far more attractive than when he first came then I'd say he's well in his right to recoup a bit. I'm not blind to faults that have happened during his ownership, but I will not at any stage accept that Dean Hoyle is fucking over fans or filtering money away for I'll gain which is what you're implying. You need to step back, take a look at how far we've come be fucking grateful for what we have because In my 20 years, it's the best I've known it. Just remember, Dean is as much of a fan as you and me. The only one out of the three of us that appears to be hoping this club fails is you.

Prunella Scales was in Standedge Tunnel the other week. I went through that tunnel on a barge with my Grandma and Grandad a while back; that was an interminably long time in almost total darkness. Worth doing, though. Been thinking of them a lot this last week; with Yorkshire closing in on the title, it was something that my Grandad and I shared - sadly we only got to enjoy the 2001 triumph together, and for that I was in the car park of a farm shop in the middle of Norfolk.

It seems to me that you're trying to make it fashionable to hate on everything at this club, Not at all, all I'm trying to do is question the clubs recent methods and actions rather than ignoring it and burying it under the carpet. We were told the Smithies money transfer would be spent on squad strengthening. All we brought in were loans, who will be funded by the lower wage bill of the players we have removed from the squad. We then sold Butterfield, again without replacement even though we knew it was happening weeks ago. This money, along with the drop in squad size will mean that this money will more than cover this year's losses. The decision not to invest this squad money back into the squad, has a very real chance of biting us in the arse come the end of the season. The chairman tried to get Vaughan off the wage bill and said things publically, which maybe should have been kept quiet. This has left us with the awkward situation of only having Wells and Miller as proper strikers, who will be willing to play/get picked. How far do we have to drop before some of the glass half full fans realise there's "trouble at t'mill"?
