Hoyle has to take some blame for the failed improvement since we got promoted. We can no longer attract top players even if he threw millions into transfers, another difficult season ahead How dare you criticise Dean?!

Some blame...sure he would accept that himself no doubt.
He has spent money on players who we have subsequently sold for a lot more so they were clearly good players. He has given a variety of Managers a chance and paid for a few decent loan signings. The only thing he hasn't done is go gungho and blown the bank on a load of new players. Yes many will be upset about this but it is a huge gamble and a hell of a lot of cash at stake.
Plus there is the issue of where we are, we are not as glamorous a place to live as London or some other parts of the country and so to the 20 somethings its not as appealing to up sticks and move here. Its just a fact, look at the likes of Sunderland, even the lure of the PL doesn't make it easy for them to attract or retain the quality they need.

Since Hoyle arrived our League Position has gone 08/09 9th in League One 09/10 6th in League One 10/11 3rd in League One 11/12 4th in League One and Promoted 12/13 19th in Championship 13/14 17th in Championship 14/15 16th in Championship That is undeniable improvement. Every season in the Championship will be difficult because of the lack of support from the Town and surrounding area of the football club. Hoyle has done his bit and more than any reasonable person could have wished for

1) Failed improvement? We've finished higher in the league each year under his tenure (Edit: As pointed out except once, however we gained promotion that year)
2) When have we ever been able to attract 'top players'? We've signed good young players who we've developed and sold for a profit, I'm not sure we've ever really signed a 'top player' under him. The likes of Clayton/Butterfield weren't wanted at their previous clubs.
It's not Hoyle's fault we have a relatively small fanbase for the championship. Just like it's also not his fault that Huddersfield isn't as an attractive destination to relocate to than a London or Bristol.
The squad is fine, it's the tactics that have let us down so far this season. Our transfer policy has worked so far. We don't 'need to sell' like Hoyle said, but when someone offers £5m for a player you just signed for the equivalent of £400k a year previously, which could be used to clear debts and purchase several other players which would improve the squad overall then I think it makes perfect sense to sell to Derby. People need to get their head out of the clouds, we aren't a Middlesbrough or Derby in this league. Things need to improve on the pitch for sure, but people are acting like we just entered liquidation.
Without Hoyle we'd never have had Butterfield, Clayton, Pilkington, Rhodes, Coady etc to sell in the first place. Some fans would do well to remember that before slagging him off.

Failed improvement is rubbish, we've improved year on year. Now if we fail to better our position or get relegated this year then you can point the finger at Deano as much as you like.

Take a look at Barnsley
lg1 05/06 5th promoted chp 06/07 20th chp 07/08 18th chp 08/09 20th chp 09/10 18th chp 10/11 17th chp 11/12 21st chp 12/13 21st chp 13/14 23rd relagated
Barnsley managed 7 years hovering around the bottom end of the championship just surviving , selling there better players on and making ends meet so to speak . A mate of mine goes regular and said the biggest thing that held them back from progressing was a chairman who was non too keen on splashing the cash and saying were not big enough to get decent crowds so we must cut our cloth to suit . Sounds very much like what our chairman constantly goes on about and if thats his way then its upto him , his money he can do as he see's fit as he's the owner . Im very grateful for what dean has done for the club and the guy should never have to buy a pint in huddersfield as long as he lives , but for his sake and him being a fan of the club perhaps the time has come for him to step aside and maybe let someone with no real ties to the club just deep pockets to take the helm !!

You can look back at our average attendances over the years and tbh they don't change that much. up a bit down a bit. The people who are prepared to pay and come and watch Town already do so, regardless of what Division we are in. Only Premier League football will change that. So has as rightly been pointed out the club has to be run on the resources it has now so that we become sustainable in the Championship.

But we've just sold our best 3 players in a month.
Left us with Wells and an average Miller as only strikers ?

Its like the board have given up already this season. Thats the issue for me.

So we have lost Butterfield, and whilst I agree that he was our best player, it is not the end of the world. I used to think that Adam Clayton was absolutely crucial to the way we used to play, and that losing him would be a huge blow. Okay we did replace him with a better player (arguably), but it meant we had to play in a different way. Now why can't this be a similar type of situation?
We have managed to sign two fairly well rated wingers in Carayol and Paterson, plus Scannell and Lolley, so we now have a different way to approach games, a serious wide threat. We have the basis for a very compact, hard working midfield in Hogg, Whitehead, Dempsey, Huws.
I do feel we are sometimes guilty of being too predictable, and I think a big part of this has been an over reliance on players such as Clayton and Butterfield. Now we have the opportunity for a new approach, we have depth in the wide areas, now surely the club wouldn't be daft enough to sign all of these players and not use them?
These are just some of my ideas, but I am prepared to be patient and wait and see what the club and the management team can do. We do have good options, these players are good enough to survive at this level. So give them a chance before writing them off.
