Whitehead will be in midfield AND he has played well there this season. If folk put aside their pre-conceptions they'd find he's done his job fine so far, and we've looked miles better defensively for it. Him and Hogg are playing well in the middle and your spot on we look very solid. Problem is neither of them look like they want to be 5 yards over the half way line. Which doesn't do much for support any attacks we have. Hopefully a combination of Scanz/Carayol/Paterson/Loan striker will fix this.

Trouble is with playing Hogg and Whitehead in the same side we end up with 6 men camped in our own half for 90 minutes. I'd like to see Whitehead at right back with a midfield 3 of Huws / Dempsey and Hogg. Can't see Powell going for that it Hogg and Whitehead will play whenever fit in midfield.

I'd like to see us play the Christmas Tree formation.

What I'd like to see is Murphy Smith cranie lynch Aussie Dempsey Hogg Scanz Patterson Crayola Vaughan. Swap Dempsey for Whitehead and Vaughan for Wells or a loan striker and I don't think you'll be far off. Then bring on Lolley/Wells (or loan striker) etc. preferably before 86 mins.

Murphy Smith Hudson Lynch Davidson Scannell Hogg Whitehead Paterson Wells Miller
Allinson Crainie Lolley Vaughan Dempsey Bunn Carayol
Not necessarily the team I'd pick but it's almost certainly what Powell will go for.
I'd start Vaughan and maybe put Crainie at RB.

I would be very excited by Paterson as nr.10.
Murphy Smith-Hudson-Lynch-Davidson Whitehead-Hogg Scannell-Paterson-Carayol Vaughan
Subs: Allinson, Cranie, Dempsey, Huws, Bunn, Lolley, Wells
Also does it say anywhere how the buy-option of paterson works? Like if he has a superb season, have we already picked a price?

I know little if next to nothing in comparison to football experts but I'm confident that Powell and co have seen with the inclusion of whitehead and Davidson we are better defensively. Now I was a butterfield fan but he wanted to go and even with him in the team we were failing to get things going in the final third. With huws, carayol and Paterson on the books I think that's a huge positive step forward. Now only time and matches will tell but I'm staying positive that these new signings along with the likes of lolley, scannell, Dempsey and wells we are looking on paper very attacking. My selection would be; murphy, smith, cranie, lynch, Davidson, Hogg, whitehead, scannell, Paterson, carayol and wells. Now before I get shot I just want to be attack minded. If this fails and we are too light weight then there's miller time on the bench. Also very optimistic but I hope the club and player can come to some mutual arrangement and get Vaughan in there! UTT
