New non executive Board appointment of Roger Burnley - a former Operations Director at Sainsbury's soon to be Chief Operating Officer at Asda.
A long time Town fan who lives in Upper Hopton ...
Town already have an Operations Director on the board, namely Ann Hough, Towns longest serving Director. Ann's responsibilities include match day experience as well as contracts. Does this appointment strengthen of weaken her position on the Board,or even a precursor to her departure ?
Personalities aside, the match day 'experience' has been pretty mediocre, many fans frustrated about the rules and regulations that have hindered fans groups (like the NSL) to implement change. There has been progress thanks to the persistence in the NSL group and many individual fans who have contacted the club with their own ideas and frustrations. Throughout this period though the name of Ann Hough has been notable by it's absence from any of the debates.
Hopefully with the support of Roger Burnley now, bringing his extensive experience in the field of Operations we will see some fresh ideas from the club and a significant improvement in support to make our match day experience better.

My guess is he's been brought in to review the whole way the club is run and not just from an operational point of view. Probably a good idea to have someone with considerable management experience on board who isn't necessarily part of the clique. One thing for certain for though is with him becoming the new number two at Asda, he won't be after Ann Hough's job.

Don't read too much into this. Something of a labour of love for him to fill his time before he is allowed to take up his Asda position while on leave from Sainsburys. We can only benefit from it. He went to a bloody good school too

Think this is exactly what is needed, could be a huge benefit on the business side of the club

I agree, he can only add fresh ideas and impetus. As for filling his time, I hope it's not just a filler for him otherwise why make an appointment rather than just a short term consultancy role ? Maybe he could fill both the Asda job and the Town Board job as a non exec, I don't know but Dean has obviously set him on to do 'something', whatever that might be ? And no, I don't think Ann's job is at risk, she has many attributes not least loyalty to the club.. and I kind of like her anyway..

Maybe Ann Hough is stretched and doing too many other things? Can only be a good thing having somebody of his experience and standing come in and take a fresh look at things.

Seems that up market Upper Hopton has become Yorkshire's new millionaire's row .
Would not surprise me if Rodger Burnley and Dean Hoyle drink in the same Mirfield pub on the banks of the river calder.
Just goes to show how times have changed since they closed the soap factory down at Brighouse as now you can see you fishing float on the river instead of it being buried in six feet of foam.
I remember the calder in Mirfield being that dirty in the early 70's that even the rats wore overalls.

is that a Leeds suburb too ... All the Town fans with a bit of clout come from that neck of the woods. Great memories of Heckmondwike's old " beck lane " ground where town second and third teams use to play and train in the 60/70s..
Often wonder if it is still there.

I remember watching Towns second team " reserves " play in the central league in the 70s ,and home matches were played at Leeds Road.
