With official confirmation just minutes away I decided to start a new thread for our new signing. Elvis Manu has had a forgettable few months at Brighton but before that he had an impressive spell at Feyenoord which made Brighton splash multi millions on him. Here is what he could bring to Wagner's barmy army! #UTT

Cost £1.5m in the summer. Good record in Holland. Sounds like he is as much a central striker as a wide player. Those types of player are perhaps perfect for the Wagner system which is maybe why we seem to be collecting them. gu.com/p/4bpq3?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other

... “I’ve talked a lot during this winter window about bringing players to the Club who would help us in the long term but when it became clear that our targets were not available in this window, we moved down a different road to help for the rest of the season."
This from Wagner seems to explain the situation perfectly.

I'm more of a Costello man. Just hope he doesn't 'trip at every step' or think Huddersfield over Brighton is a 'kinder murder'.
He could have gone to Stamford Bridge but insisted....yarda yarda

David Wagner 'I only want to sign players who can help us in the long term, not just for the next three months' Saturdays sun
'I prefer to work with players owned by the club' a quote put on the Jordy Hiwula thread.
You might want that Dave but it doesn't work like that here.Good luck!

So basically Town have said he's not who we wanted but he'll do I read it more that permanent targets weren't available so we switched to loan targets. Pretty sure that's what he meant and seems a reasonable strategy to me.

You might want that Dave but it doesn't work like that here.Good luck! He explains it in his quotes on signing Manu. "Our long term targets weren't available, so we've signed someone to help us until the end of the season". Fair enough really.

Extremely hit & miss at Feijenoord. Unplayable one match, then sh*t for the next 3. Hope he's matured and gained some stabillity. If he has, he's going to be an excellent signing.

So basically Town have said he's not who we wanted but he'll do Looks better that VLP. Bit of pace and strength. Goals and crosses with both feet and a few headed goals as well.

If anything we need more wingers/attacking mids than any position because we play 3 every game. I still think we need a striker, but im guessing hiwula will be second in line behind wells, back to prove he is good enough to challenge wells for the front role. And if thats the case then im certainly not complaining. I do wonder if wagner may consider bunn up front too, if wells gets injured.
Depends how you look at it I suppose. Could be a great loan, not so long back he was bought for more than our record fee.

So basically Town have said he's not who we wanted but he'll do No, theyve said we can't get the player we're after to develop the squad longer term so he's a player we're signing to bridge the gap in the meantime until that/those players we are wanting and able to bring in permanently are available. Seems a perfectly reasonable approach. Elvis Manu might actually be a BETTER player than who we are targeting longer term, but he's a player we aren't prepared to pay the asking price for (which assumedly could be £4.5m+ given how much Brighton still have to pay for him, even though he's probably "worth" around 1.4m [br

He could, just could, be your cult player of the year. Incredible pace, can easily beat his man . . . and . . . and, well if the goal stretched from corner flag to corner flag he might hit the target. He will give the linesman a bout of repetitive strain syndrome from flagging offside every time he gets the ball. When he does burst forward he's like a rhino on heat . . . . well that's about it really. Enjoy the moment 'cos that's all you're going to get with Elvis, apart from the songs.
" He's caught in a trap, he can't let go, cos he's offside baby, we can't go on together with suspicious minds . . ". Sorry!
