The cheap season ticket prices (if true) are being offset by the increase in league revenue. The money saved from the outgoing players (and lack of incoming players) will probably be utilised for a major push next season. How Clibbens fits into the triangle I don't know but what I do know is that our absolute focus this season has to be on survival.
Dean is basically putting the ball in our court. If we want a successful team we need to push them over the line this season. Be the 12th man. If we deliver then he might just do the same. Exciting times.

Sure is, the only worry is that our fair weathered 'fans' are already busily thinking up reasons why they still wont go! Hoping the club has some good marketing strategies up its sleeve cos I feel the key to increasing crowds is with attracting new and not relying on the old.

It's pretty unlikely that the increase in "solidarity payments" will offset the cheaper tickets, we're only getting approximately an extra £700k. Think we'd need to shift around 15k to break even.

I am sorry but I can't buy into this "the ball is in our court", "the fans need to support the club" line. As much as I am a DH supporter it isn't the likes of me, and many on here - negative and positive , he needs to convince it's the stay away fans who may return when the team really start delivering on the pitch. DH is all too aware that the fans of this club have lived in hope of a "special" season for decades, sadly that 12th man support will only come when the floaters believe the team is going places. As it stands many of the die-hards cannot agree on much other than we appear to have found potentially the most exciting manager in years. The real issue we have is that clubs around us have significantly more cash, we can compete but it's very tough. I am sorry to be so frank but the cheap season tickets may not be as successful as some may think they should - the world has moved on and there are many other things people will do than watching Town. That said the irony is if we make shapes to become successful Championship side there are 3-4 thousand who will start to turn up again. On the really positive side I see the changes being made at the club in the past few months as being a pre-cursor to real change of direction for HTAFC...interesting and maybe exciting times ahead....

I'll just give the other side to your argument, I've not had a season ticket for around 15 years and the recent turn around under Wagner and the announcement of the new ticket prices is making me think I will get one next year. This is a direct result of the change in style on and off the pitch and the reduction in season ticket prices. As long as we stay up this season (which I am certain we will) I think you could be pleasantly surprised. There are more Town fans out here just waiting for the little shoots of success and positivity to start peaking through and we feel like we are seeing them.

The problem is that the stay-away fans are unlikely to splash the cash on a suggestion that the club are going to push for it next season. If any transfer activity happens, it's going to be a long time AFTER the ST's go on sale.
The recent transfer windows have left a bit of a "boy who cried wolf" feeling amongst many fans.
I really hope the ST thing happens and people do buy them in droves. I also hope the club splash the cash a bit for DW to do something with, because from what we've seen, the squad is only 2 or 3 quality acquisitions away from something quite exciting.
We must bear in mind the loans who may/will be going back at the end of the season though, we'll have to replace them too.

Has anyone ever bought a season ticket based on new signings - doubt there are many?
Lankystreet is right - they will buy them based on success on the pitch.

I disagree, people will buy into the feel of the club without needing to see the money spent. We've been told it will be spent in the summer on specific targets, 99.9% can accept that......

And more power to you for that.....I'm not one of these who gets precious about who chooses to support us...or not...it's a personal choice, there are many who love Town who can't attend regularly, doesn't make them poor fans..there are also many who dourly turn up week in week out and moan to the cows come home....each to his own...but the more people who come, support and enjoy what they are seeing cannot be bad at all.

Why is everything about splashing the cash I want the club to be successful - this is far more important than splashing the cash. I don't believe splashing the cash will necessarily bring success as Bolton, Blackburn, Forest, Wigan, L666s and Fulham have found out the last couple of seasons. Out of contract acquisitions are just as capable of being successful as expensive ones. To be honest Marcus, I really don't want the club to be throwing millions around chasing the PL dream, I've seen that movie before and it was a heartbreaker.I would much rather build as we are, utilising cheap signings to sell for profit, bring academy and develomental lads through to also sell when they are successful. I'd much rather follow the career of a kid we give a debut to develop and be sold like Boothy than bought ones like Rhodes. I would never make demands of a Chairman that has pumped in tens of millions of pounds into the club to raise its status from struggling League One club with no assets to a steady away Championship one that is debt free to everyone but him.

Think the club need to plan ahead for the possibility of not seeing a massive up-take in season cards and possibly focus more on half-season cards for next season unless we basically finish the season unbeaten starting tomorrow. As others have said you need the results and the feeling that we're going places to really increase attendances. If we just stumble over the line this season and finish pretty much where we are now, which is what I think is likely to happen especially now that there's no cup, then really it will be mid-way or at least a few weeks into next season before we start to see a big increase in numbers. This is all assuming we get off to a good start and show the signs of really going for it (which it looks like we will) and that all starts with pre-season results and new player signings.

This is a fine balancing act as fans in past have been promised form the board "you buy the tickets we buy the players " ,numerous transfer windows have past without any investment and numerous post have been on here about so many millions ougoing and none incoming. I am in agreeance we dont need to spend millions but we need to spend wisely and what ever DW sees best for the positions and squad he wants ,which i think he will do ....ALTHOUGH ,from a certain fans point of view even though maybe right from a footballing point of view the wandering fans will need that so called marque signing to say "aye up the town mean business again now" .Either that or wait until the squad and team that DW builds plays well and gets into the lofty position we are all hoping we are gonna get to .
If that is enough to get the wandering fans back then thats another matter.....
Personally i think people could afford the ticket prices if really wanted to and liked going, had a great atmosphere ,had favourite players to watch, getting behind the team mainly . perfect example is ,i asked few people at random would they buy a season ticket at town from a family member to few friends to others dad and majority said the same response.... Same old town do on cheap , no they wouldnt because of the atmosphere , and more importantly the team is not something can warrant getting a season ticket , so i thought maybe a few of them are warranted in all honesty ,if this all does fall into place fair play but dont think its gonna be as easy as mentioned .

At that price I will be buying 1 adult and 3 junior cards. I know of at least 2 others that will be very interested. The club has gained some kudos with the new manager, has additional traction through the new style of play and continues momentum with the season ticket prices.
Crowds won't reach dizzying heights of course, but I expect a quick reversal in decline and attendances will grow if the club stays on the front foot.
Nice one Town.

I'm surprised that several people on here seem to think that price isn't the issue - it is THE number one issue for me. I don't care what division we are in nor do I care what style we are playing nor whether we are winning or losing (I went to 19 out of 22 away games in 1987/88 which was our worst season ever). I will always go if I can afford it (and it avoids work commitments)
