Our inability to kill teams off when we're pissing all over them is just as big a reason for us losing yesterday. Should've been out of sight before we even got our first goal.

I think at the time of the decision it sort of made sense, PNE playing for set pieces and lumping the ball into the box. It was unfortunate in every sense but the fact is we didn't defend properly in the last 10mins in a game we could have won long before PNE scored. All in all for all the great stuff we did we colletively gifted PNE the game. Poor Boyle must feel awful, hope he comes back stronger. It's all been said, we are lacking that extra quality. I disagree with you. Inexperience is the last thing you need in the 90th minute of such a game. However, it's done... we learn and move on. I'll disagree back, we conceded from a set piece already, the only time we looked vulnerable was at corners and free kicks. Bringing on a centre half to add some height and strength made sense. Young Boyle made an error, sadly it happens. At Reading Hudson missed a straight forward tackle which led to Hogg being sent off, game changing moment. Ultimately we lost for two very obvious and all too familiar reasons yesterday 1 - We didn't take our chances 2 - We lack genuine quality in the back 4 and defensively generally The decision to stick Boyle on and secure what would have been a disappointing draw made sense, unfortunately it went badly wrong...but in those minutes after we went in front we need to manage the game better. Overall it's tough but it's a tough league. The positives outweigh the negatives but the fine margins are killing us at the moment. I hope the last 4 games will be a motivator for greater diligence and determination. Long term we have to address our areas of weakness across the squad.

'Hindsight is a wonderful thing' I anticipate you saying, but as much as it pains me to say it, the outcome of that particular substitution supports my argument and not yours... unfortunately. Though, more importantly, (and once again I say) let's learn from it and move on. There are no points scored for recriminations and blame. This whole enterprise will continue to be an education for fans and coach alike. Onward!

I'm gonna disagree with your example, but back up your argument! That reading goal wasn't' down to Hudson missing a tackle; he simply got beaten by a decent bit of skill. However, the 'experienced' Lynch was out of position playing them on-side.

Condescending and wtd..we'll agree to disagree on the specifics but agree on the bigger picture...
It's going to be a rocky ride between now and May but what ever happens the club will emerge stronger I'm sure.

Listen to the interview FFS. Clear as a bell. So what went wrong then?
Clearly the message never got through to the players, because KOR and Oggy seemed certain we'd switched to a back 3.

On the radio prior to their winner Peter Clarke said that he thought it was a bad decision to bring on a young inexperienced defender so late in the game and change the formation.Peter Clarke said it takes a while to adjust when you come on as sub and it was too late.About a minute later they scored.

KOR was not even at the game Sorry, force of habbit, it was PC assisting this week.
He made it quite clear that after Boyle went over to Lynch to pass on instructions, they switched to a back 3.

Irrespective of which experienced/inexperienced player was directly responsible for their second goal yesterday, we conceded to an ariel assault which is exactly what the substitution was meant to counter. We hadn't conceded to an arial attack all afternoon, so why change it then, especially if you don't have the experienced personnel to deal with it. If it ain't broke don't fix it! I'm actually boring myself now!
