So long as nick keeps posting his tragic bullshit about him I'll keep posting what a cretin he was. Saw town as a stepping stone. Ridiculous opinion of him self. Absolutely clueless manager. Horrid thick bitter little man. Held us back with his appealing use of funds and inept ability to have teams defend properly or select the right players. Failures that took the club a long time to get over. I sincerely hope when the latest owner sees thru his bullsht record and gets rid it'll be the last time nick posts his cheery bullshit & his name will be finally gone from the forum forever. Lee Clark- the man who stupid people believed in.....
If that doesn't bring 3pipe screaming back nothing will!

Very good manager who laid the foundations and helped us to bring a more proffesional and higher level setup to Town. He helped shape the academy what we now have today and also was instrumental with the planning and development of Canalside. With him he had coaches who'd been there, done that and had played and coached at the highest level in the English game. Good luck to the lad he deserves a bit of success and will get that through sheer hard work and determination.

Classy Dean was at fault keeping that fool on as long as he did. I'm a huge fan of Hoyle but he isn't beyond rapproach. It wasn't working and it took dean a long time to see it or admit it. He held on to his idea about not sacking managers when they're having a tough spell(which is admirable in theory) but he held onto that idea too tightly. Now if you have a Wagner I agree but after Millwall it never got any better and it was the same flattering to deceive results and the same mistakes over and over. Shite defence, total inability to sign required defenders. Endless players signed who never feature, others undroppable no matter how poor hey were. It was chaotic and that's being kind. It was amateurish which is what lee Clark is- a stupid player who wasn't suited to management. If Dean had appointed Clark when he appointed Powell he'd have given him the same ammount of time he gave Powell. I'm not saying anything dean himself didn't say a couple of summers back in a very candid radio interview. The best leaders are humble and recognise when they've made a mistake and learn from it. His managerial appoints get better and better from the effective Grayson, the promising football but ineffective robins, the solid but dour football Powell to Wagner- the whole club ethos and culture changer. The man to take us to the next level.

If only he didnt completely shit himself after the Millwall play off defeat it could've been very different for him. But he did and signed 10+ players when 3 or 4 would've sufficed and he's done feck all, anywhere, since.

We were 4th in league one when Dean pulled the trigger, it then took a huge slice of luck to get us promoted via the play offs. That is what actually happened, as it appears you may have forgotten. Dean made the right call in hindsight, went for a manager that could manage us through the play offs but it only just worked out. The incarceration of a certain Ched Evans was more pivotal in the promotion chase.

Mind you I still don't think he'd have been able to keep the back door shut well enough to succeed.

We shoud've been first by that stage not scrapping for a play off spot. He'd had 3 years and plenty enough cash to get out of the league. Clark was short sighted and still felt it was good for little old Huddersfield to be competing near the top of league one. Whereas Powell at charlton on similar budget had Won the division easily. The previous year Brighton got up by buying Greer and bridcutt instead of McCombe and anton Robinson. & to call it luck is a discredit to Grayson who has delivered league one promotions on 4 occasions with 4 different clubs. It's not luck it's the ability to get a side over the line. To believe in itself enough to win when it counts & win ugly as we did in the play offs. Oh and let me be perfectly clear- there is one reason why the club is now where it's at- dean Hoyle. Has fuck all to do with Lee poxy Clark as that fool 3pipe believes. Come back 3pipe you b*tch*cker

Bet Clark had changed his mind regarding his past assessment of Vardy , and now might be interested in signing the player for Kilmarnock.
They say hindsight is a wonderful thing , and same could be said by Terrierluke.

Remember at the time that disloyalty to the club was a major factor in Clark's dismissal.
It was mentioned at the time that Hoyle dismissed him " via text message " straight after towns home defeat to Sheffield United
Also remember Clark being a guest of Dan Walker on football focus soon after , and he admitted that he had applied for other managerial jobs after being asked the question by Dan Walker .
He got plenty of sympathy from fellow guest Mark Lawrenson who stated that it wasn't Lee Clark's fault that he was so popular.
Clark actually made the club a profit from all his signings, and did not think Vardy was good enough to fit into his Huddersfield side.
Often wonder if a Vardy /Rhodes partnership might have worked for town had it been made possible.

We were up against 3 other very good sides that season, to say we should have been 1st is delusional Delusional to think we could have achieved what Peterborough, charlton, Brighton all achieved in less time on similar resources. It was thinking like that that held us back as a club. There is no reason whatsoever why town could and should have been promoted in any of those years and certainly yes by 2012 we should have been first not pissing about it the playoffs. It was a shite effort in the midst of a unbeaten run that failed to deliver enough points.

If getting promoted because our keeper could take penalties better than their keeper isn't luck I'm not entirely sure what is.
We had luck in the 11/12 play-offs. We didn't in the 10/11 ones.

Youve brought it down to one final incident though. It wasn't luck that he kept us in 4th place when at the time Clark left i think it was looking doubtful we wouldn't drop to at least 6th. It wasn't luck we beat MK Dons over 2 legs It wasn't luck we didn't lose the Sheff Utd over 120 mins ( were the better side in fact)
Grayson has proven several times he can get his teams in the right frame of mind to scrap their way through a play off campaign. they don't bottle it- they go up.
Clark proved he can't. We bottled it against Millwall ( totally in the away leg) and we came so close to bottling it again against Bournemouth the following year before bottling it against Posh in the final.
Ditching Clark and appointing Grayson was a masterstroke by Hoyle cos without it , we wouldn't have gone up IMO.

You have to say that the evidence of what happened at Birmingham during Clark's time there compared to how they have done since he left doesn't really do him any favours. Weren't they minutes away from being relegated on last day of season? think Zigic came up with a vital goal and assisted in another iirc?

Grayson's playoff win with Town WAS luck though, we won football's version of a coin flip! The man has an excellent record elsewhere but his results at Town were no better than his predecessor or replacement but he got the rub of the green in the biggest game of his tenure, that is all. If it was all down to marvellous mental preparation and bottle - why did we miss our first 3 spot kicks in the shootout? If Sheff Utd weren't as bad as us at taking their first five penalties then it could easily be claimed it was a bottle job in 2011/12 as well, missing 3 penalties in the shootout!

With pretty much the same squad, and enduring the slog of a Europa league campaign, Chris Hughton finished 4th. Clark arrived, added a few big name signings of his own, and turned them to shit. Then as soon as he goes, the excuses over money and club in crisis immediately disappear and rowett gets them winning again.

If we had lost in the shootout after missing those first 3 penaltiees would you have called it unlucky or another bottle job? Sometimes we may look at the wrong targets I think our players were the ones to bottle it at Millwall and Old Trafford FWIW! I certainly believe that's why we went almost exclusively for experienced signings after Millwall. Which would probably had got us promoted but for coming up against exceptional teams in Brighton and Southampton that season, IMO that was unlucky
