We gained promotion because Ched Evans got sent down. If he'd have stayed out of prison and played for the Blades then they would have walked second place keeping Wednesday in the playoffs who were by far the form team and playing really well and in my opinion would've walked the playoffs.
Clark brought some very good players to town and made us quite a bit of profit with the selling them on. Also he brought a professionalism to the club that had never been there before and took us on to a whole new level with his and the coaching staffs experience, knowledge and know how within the top level off the game and were backed by Hoyles money.

It will be a wankfest at Nicks gaff if Elsie replaces Mike Marsh as our coach after he has been sacked by Killie.

Or maybe Wednesday would have choked. Bit like we did the previous season having finished 3rd by some way? he signed some good players and yes he actually made money overall thanks to Rhodes. but the good players were massively outnumbered by the duff ones and most of those duff ones were either a lot of money, on big wages or both. Fire enough bullets you're bound to hit something. I didn't get this professionalism thing. I saw a manager who seemed panic struck in interviews, vindictive against some players. Occasionally out of control on the touchline. Creaming himself on the radio when linked to another club. His answer to any problem was to bring in new players. Compare him to Wagner who has IMPROVED the players he has with coaching. And what was this whole new level? Spending a fortune like the club has never seen and still failing to go up from the third division? Suppose that was new. he had one target to achieve and every help he could get to achieve it from his chairman and given lots of time, and he failed. He went to Birmingham and failed. he went to blackpool and failed and he''ll fail at Kilmarnock. hes like the direct opposite of a 'good manager'.

You're talking nonsense Not really Ted, he came in and changed many things, we played some worldy football under him, admitted the last season wasnt good. Some folk just want to make him a scapegoat. He did all the work then grayson just came in and we got lucky on pennys.

Youve brought it down to one final incident though. It wasn't luck that he kept us in 4th place when at the time Clark left i think it was looking doubtful we wouldn't drop to at least 6th. It wasn't luck we beat MK Dons over 2 legs It wasn't luck we didn't lose the Sheff Utd over 120 mins ( were the better side in fact) Grayson has proven several times he can get his teams in the right frame of mind to scrap their way through a play off campaign. they don't bottle it- they go up. Clark proved he can't. We bottled it against Millwall ( totally in the away leg) and we came so close to bottling it again against Bournemouth the following year before bottling it against Posh in the final. Ditching Clark and appointing Grayson was a masterstroke by Hoyle cos without it , we wouldn't have gone up IMO. I don't know how anyone can claim Grayson was just lucky when the bloke's done it four times with four different clubs of varying sizes and financial restrictions. To paraphrase Gary Player, "the more practise he gets, the luckier he is" Sent from my SM-G900F using proboards

Gimme some evidence .... And don't give it all this scapegoat crap.... You're the one who calls our finest goalscorer of the last fifty years " rhodent"

That night we panned Brighton 7-1 was like nothing ever seen down at Town, the guy did really have us playing some magical stuff but then he lost the plot.
Although look where Brighton are now.

What about the 7-1 at Barnsley away? Oh, hang on... The unifying feature in all four games was the fact that the team which scored one was absolutely gash

I think he would make a decent coach but he was a bloody terrible manager. Rhodes dug him out of a massive hole in terms of transfer profit. He puts himself under far too much pressure. Would be much better as a coach and help get a team playing some good football.

Let's be honest, if Clark had done such an amazing job at Town and was so unlucky to be sacked then a decent club would have snapped him up within weeks.
He wasn't, which tells me that most people in football knew that he'd failed despite a great chairman and a virtually open chequebook
He hid behind the financial situation at Birmingham, then along came Rowett to blow that out of the water.
Blackpool was a predictable disaster for him and conveniently used the Oyston family as his get out of jail free card.
He's ended up in a footballing backwater like a lot of us predicted.
To claim he changed the culture of this club, all that garbage about the supposed professionalism he brought in, it's just horse shit.
Prozone? Every lower league club manager would have wanted that, it's not voodoo or witchcraft that only the football genius that is Lee Clark was aware of.

Nick, would it help stop this adoration to LC if we did something akin to the Buxton lounge?
We could create a small sub-sub-sub board in off topic, the Clark Corner perhaps???
