I’d look to get Massimo Luongo in on loan from Ipswich. I don’t envisage they’d use him in the Premier League, his level is Championship or top end League 1. Perfect to get us at the top end of league 1. Funny isn’t it brill for Ipswich but not very good when at owls Was constantly injured those two seasons. It seems he’s over that and back to his best. He was captain at QPR for a bit, the type of player we should be after.

He was the only manager to get a tune out of this rabble. Whether he wanted it or not, IMO we had a fighting chance under him. Hindsight though and much speculation. He wasn't though. We lost 50% of our games. People go on like he won 10 in a row. We need to stop wanting ex players. Bringing players back has caused this mess. Relegation as bad as it is, will hopefully be a blessing. Short term pain for long term gain. There will be a few players that would have stuck around had we stayed up that we don't need around the club. With relegation, these Billy big bollocks personalities can take their over inflated egos elsewhere and rot someone else. I would rather have a team fighting for eachother in Lg1 than stuck with half of this shite in the Championship. Keep AB, let him keep who he wants and do our best to get the rest gone. Let AB start a rebuild a la Wagner Summer of 2016. JW got 6 points from 4 games. Beat the teams we needed to beat. If the rest had that record we wouldn’t be relegated. I don’t want JW next year because JW doesn’t want the job, but you can’t deny from the small sample that he did a job when we needed it and I wished he stayed on for longer and hopefully until we were safe. JW did a job that neither AB or DM achieved. I agree 100% with you with regards to our squad. They anger me to the point I can’t be bothered thinking much about them. I’m glad a lot will be shipped out and very few of them are Championship quality, and relegation is actually their level, league 1 is their level.

Sure the Rudoni obsessors will be out in force soon - the ones saying he was destined for the PL and is a better player than O’Brien - still pissing myself at that one Aaron Mooy would have looked average in this side. Not sure Rudoni is destined for the PL, but I'd be surprised if he doesn't have a decent career at sides in the top half of the Championship, where he is playing alongside better players. Maddison made Pritchard (possibly) look like an £11m player, remember! This has been a shite season, think your judgement has taken a hit just like all our hearts. Mooy would have single handedly kept this shower of shit up. In fact, none of this lot deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as Mooy.

We've actually missed some right chances today. He rarely strikes the ball properly. Laughable, can’t even score from 5 yards and next minute he’s trying to hit a swiveling shot from 25 yards. Needs to do the basics first.

Last time I went to Stoke it was on the old ‘Special’ train. We drew 0-0 in a League Cup tie at the Victoria Ground on a midweek evening in the 83-84 season. Lost the replay at Leeds Road 2-0. Funny how I can recall that from when I was still at school, but can’t remember why I just went downstairs… Don’t worry ol’ chap, after so many fucking days you are going rigid. They do always say you should be careful what you wish for…

For all Mooy's fantastic abilities, he really wasn't very good at corners. Disagree with this You don’t take them for every club / country if you’re not very good at them The point is we often asked him to play the corner to that near post area where stats show 1. Better quality chances created 2. Harder to execute - mainly as a team have one or two first men (6 yard box / often first marker) It’s a fine margin to get it just right which is why so many get cut out If we’d asked him to take Pritchard’s corners (which I recall maybe incorrectly as being more ‘floaters’ than near post - his corners not a personal dig) I’m sure they’d have been more accurate! To me it was clearly an instruction to hit the near post area as at international level he often took excellent corners to the middle and far post. It helped having Tim Cahill to drop them onto but he was an excellent corner taker for Australia.

To me, AB is either Alan Border or AB DeVilliers....but I'm prepared for a new AB. Showing your age there…. Captain grumpy 😂 normally the saying is your talents are wasted here… but that’s clearly not true, but you should be joining us on the cricket thread 👍

Not quite sure why we should be bending over backwards to further his career I’ll always use DW as an example - simply because he orchestrated such an unbelievable bond between the club and fan base. I realise we’ll probably never witness this again but I do not believe this would have been possible had he been commuting. Working with DH he put his heart and soul into the club by moving his family To the area (as did Christophe) This is the level of commitment required if the right person is buying into KN’s dream in my opinion. Bang on.

Interesting, after all the talk of attacking football we go for the manager who has the best defensive record in the third division of German football 🤔 equal 6th best attacking record 🤔🤔

After yesterday’s performance, I’d love to see Kevin Muscat as manager of this team. I thought he’d possibly be a bit too attacking for this squad, but now I think he’d be a great fit for us.

We then recovered, we went on to dominate the next 20 minutes or so. Southampton struggled to get out of their half, we were breaking up play and getting the ball back into their defensive third with speed and swinging balls into the box. We went 2-3 up and shortly afterwards I thought we could have gone 2-4 up with the chances we created. This right here was the difference. They were more clinical than us and that showed the difference in quality. At 2-4 with 10 minutes plus stoppage time to play we could have potentially shut it down to see the game out, but that was never going to happen at 2-3. . As good as the first half was, this was the most impressive part of the performance. Having lost a 2 goal lead so quickly (and there wasn’t a lot they could do about the goals, as you say), most teams would’ve folded in the face of their quality. Adding a 4th, which would have been deserved, kills it. Immensely encouraged. Agree 100%, we were right back in their faces and all over them after a period of adversity. We didn’t capitulate but in fact stood taller. A bit of luck and/or a bit of composure and we would have done them with a 4th. After that we could have conserved energy to defend and used up time to kill it.

I think we’ve got to break this performance down further if you are being critical of our 2nd half performance and the overall result.
Firstly, we were excellent in the first half, we deserved to be 0-2 up at halftime. We broke up the play very well, we had periods of dominance and in general stopped the form team of the competition who possess a premier league squad from playing.
Second half we got done by a worldy to start with. The lad couldn’t have hit it sweeter and if there was a bin in the top corner, it need not have been the one that you put on the street, it could have been your kitchen variety and it would have gone into it.
Second goal is your classic stun a team when they are stunned bringing it back to 2-2. Every manager who has a positive mind set tells their team to go get a second goal while a team is mentally fragile from conceding.
So we conceded a 3-3 own goal. Was a bit unlucky but that’s what happened. We then ran out of steam, subs for us just weren’t up to the task, Southampton’s quality then shone through as our legs tired.
TBH I thought we deserved a point out of that but we just weren’t good enough against a team that will be back in the premier league next season. The good news is, we’ve shown what we are made of at Town, we’ve shown we aren’t that far away from being a top team. We are a good manager and a bench to fit, away from being a team to challenge at the very top.
There’s so much positive to take from today’s performance.
Over to you Kev.
