He got subbed with 10 mins left ... hoping it was tactical or because he wasn't playing well rather than him taking a knock. If they were playing two lumps up front then probably only had Mooy + one in central midfield (a bit like Town in the second half at Ipswich) - or do they play 3-5-2? He will always be less effective in a two man central midfield. He got 10 minutes rest and hope he is having a long kip first class on the plane back to Yeadon. Na, Ange rarely if ever plays 3-5-2. Ange played a 4-1-2-1 in a diamond formation, Mooy was less effective in this formation as he wasn't afforded enough space. Much more effective once the shape was changed in the 2nd half

He doesn't get much space playing for Town. I think our 4-2-3-1 line up suits him best. He's got one alongside and one in front, and then also links well with the two wide men who often drop deeper and inside. He has freedom to get backwards, forward or sideways, and does it very well.

Nips? Really?? It's not the seventies and that's not on. Isn't it short for Nippon, Japanese for Japan ?

Mooy was average, Luongo was worse. Postecoglou was terrible

Going to see Mooy live for the first time in months tonight - hope he has learnt a bit from playing the terriers! Its traditional to do a just back report for this list - even if its the middle of the night over there. Sorry, I only come on this site whilst on my lunch break at work Definitely wasn't his best performance, but I don't think it was his fault. Ange played the wrong formation and it didn't play to Mooy's strengths As others have mentioned he was subbed with 10 minutes left, but didn't appear injured from my terrible view spot. Should be good to go for the big game this weekend

poor game for mooy perhaps fatigue setting in he doesn't seem as aggressive in his passing To be fair, Japan did "Park the bus". There was very little space available in the attacking third. Mooy did play a couple of direct passes, that got cut out by the defenders, just off the toes of the Oz attackers. I think he would have been used to Nahki & Kerchunga getting those as they are both really good at playing on the front line with their backs to the defender. Still, I agree, he wasn't at his best with that formation/Team. UTT TTID

If he plays on Sunday I'll be surprised. Last time he was flying from the UAE, this time he's coming back from Melbourne, that's a stretch.

Flying back isn't too bad, you obviously gain the lost time back. Plus he's got an day extra rest compared with the Leeds game He'll be out there controlling the game like usual

I do remember the club putting dean heffernans bad form after six weeks being down to jetlag but I can't see the same for Mooy

Mooy is a class act, simple. He'll play as we need him versus the Wendies

Mooy looks like he's had a good sleep on the plane. Good to see him playing and televised to Australia which is great.

Hmmm
Not a bad standard of football, at about Melbourne City level although we have more firepower (Timmy Cahill, Fornaroli) in the final third than Hudders. I like the ground, would be great on a Saturday afternoon if the weather is nice.
Mooy's passing today is very good.

Can we please not compare standards? We all have our biases and it's ultimately pretty meaningless anyway.

Hopefully Hudders will do a tour downunder in the offseason and we can see how they stack up. Anyway getting back on point, Mooy is holding up well despite the long distance travel.

Should've been comfortably cleared by Hogg. Simple header poorly judged.
He's so involved, so likely to cock-up at some point.

Mooy played the game out although looked a little tired towards the end which was not surprising. Hudders a little unlucky not to draw this.

Didn't think he played well at all, although Forestieri was closing him down quickly whenever he got on the ball. Movement wasn't great in front of him but he didn't play many incisive passes, and he looked a bit sluggish on second balls at times.
Would be tempted to start him on the bench Wednesday but Billing and Paurevic are seemingly far from the 11 and Whitehead offers little going forward.

He needs to be a bit braver and attempt more defence splitting balls rather than going sideways so much

Our failings were not in midfield today. They delivered possession and territory. We didn't do enough round the box when we got it there.
