If city paid £6M before his record this season he'll be worth closer to 10. How much did Shelvey go for wasn't it £12m. Mooy won't be far behind him.

The only chance we have of getting him is if we win promotion this year and even then I'd be amazed to see us spend £10m on one player. Just enjoy him while he's here because players of his ability don't turn up at Town very often.

City that is Manchester City didn't actually pay anything for him actually. He was transferred from Melbourne City but is still owned by the City Football Group. So basically it was an internal transfer or accounting excercise. If he eventually gets sold for anything above 10 million£ thats infact more than what CFG bought for Melbourne Citys license.

Reckon we could do a deal. You sound like you have some inside knowledge of our finances. Could you explain the workings of such a deal... affordability/wages/transfer fee figures etc that you have in mind?

I'm sure our legal and financial team might be able to negotiate if we did go up. As for wages I'd be guessing but we all know a few of our top players will be on very very good deals.

He's here for one year and one year only unfortunately.

I was thinking how (seeing as Billing doesn't seem to be able to get his act together) we don't really have a serious replacement for his role should we need to rest him or he's out injured or suspended. I know he wasn't everyone's cup of tea, but I really wish we'd been able to do a deal for Emyr Huws, who seems to be nowhere near the Cardiff team. Is he injured, out of favour... what? Would anyone else have liked him still to have been part of our squad? Or, like Mooy, was it simply a matter of the numbers not stacking up and a deal being beyond us?

It's highly unlikely we'll have Mooy next year, but I'd never heard of him (nor Palmer or Kachunga) in July, and I suspect a similar thing to happen next season when we pick up some decent season long loans.

There's a good chance Luke Brattan will be available as a possible replacement next year, playing with Mooy's old club in Australia at the moment. He's surprised me with his continued improvement after basically not playing last season when loaned out by Manchester City to Bolton, can't understand what their manager was thinking, I'm sure David Wagner would be able to see the ability there.

Hoping to see Mooy back to his best today after a week's rest. These endless bloody qualifiers are killing him. Hogg will be back too and I think we'll be better than Brum in midfield. Fulham's midfield dominated us on sat.

Sublime at times again today but under-utilised in the attacking third. Made the goal with superb pass. Phil Bill time to get your finger out of your arse and force your way into the midfield. These Aussies are right about Mooy...we need him further up field.

These Aussies are right about Mooy...we need him further up field. I don't think I agree with that. I want Mooy on the ball as much as possible and he won't be able to do that in a no 10 role. I would rather he be told to break forwards more from his position as then he will still be able to control the game and the midfield. I made this point a few weeks ago - I still think thay depends on Hogg's positioning as well. He was too deep 1st half for me meaning Mooy has to come deeper as well, 2nd was better.

Not straightforward that's for sure. It is such a pleasure to be talking about our numerous superb players and how to get the best from them...as opposed to arguing about who needs to be dropped or sold that has typified the last 5 or 6 years.

I think we need to try mooy in the number 10 role with billing/paurevic behind. We need to be more clinical in front of goal, this might be an option.

Good spot, Nick. And put in the right thread, too. This should settle any argument about which league is the stronger... Aaron Mooy has confirmed he's being closely monitored by Manchester City throughout his loan stint at Huddersfield Town, renewing hopes the Socceroos midfielder could yet play for the English Premier League giants.
The former Melbourne City star has also described the standard of the English Championship as being noticeably higher than that of the A-League.
Described by national coach Ange Postecoglou as "the best and most exciting player in the A-League", Mooy has elicited even more superlatives for his role in helping Huddersfield's unlikely climb up the table into promotion contention.
The quietly spoken 26-year-old has already twice been named the club's player of the month for his creativity and technical skill, described by one awe-struck member of the UK press as being "cut from the same silken cloth" as France legend Zinedine Zidane.
Having started 16 from 17 games this season there's no doubt Mooy is thriving under coach David Wagner at The Terriers, where City immediately sent him on loan after signing him on a four-year deal in July.
Yet he also remains on Pep Guardiola's radar, revealing City have been in weekly contact about his progress.
"They usually speak to me once a week," Mooy said.
"They have a scout that comes to the games and they always have clips on me and stuff like that.
"So they always talk to me about how it's going and how they think I'm doing."
Mooy said it had been a big step up to the Championship, where he felt the overall quality was stronger than in the A-League.
"It's faster, it's probably more competitive. The standard is higher, definitely," he said.
"The A-League will keep growing every year and hopefully one day we get to that standard.
"There are some really high-quality players in the A-League.
"But the difference between the best players, and not the best players, is pretty big compared to in the Championship (where) it's a lot closer.
"The squads are much stronger and even the players not playing, there's not much difference with the players who are playing."
Mooy will likely continue his potent attacking partnership with fellow Socceroos midfielder Tom Rogic in Tuesday's World Cup qualifier with Thailand in Bangkok.
The duo both see themselves as distinctly different players but Rogic saw that as a strength.
"It's always good to play with players like him, it makes it easier on the pitch," Rogic said.
"Aaron's shown his quality in the A-League and now overseas as well.
"He's an important player in our set-up."

I don't think any of the Aussies (including me) were saying the A-League is better than the Championship. It's clearly not. But those who watch a lot of football tend to think the better A-League teams would survive in the Championship or do well in League One. If he came straight from a league several levels below the Championship, there's no way Mooy would have performed straight away as well as he has. There are probably another 20-odd Australian players in the A-League who would be good enough for the Championship, but no strikers. We're just not very good at making strikers.

If you could make a Mark Viduka id have one here. To add, if you look through, some oz posters did think the A League was a better standard, it's simply not when Andy Keogh is 2ND leading scorer....
