What if you have Sky rather than Freeview? Is the only option to buy a DAB radio?

What if you have Sky rather than Freeview? Is the only option to buy a DAB radio? Along with a brand new car with a DAB radio and a freeview tele installed.

It's about time we had a BBC radio Huddersfield channel with Huddersfield Town commentary. I don't like using anything with the vile word L***s in it.

I don't like using anything with the vile word L***s in it. you seem to have difficulty seperating the word 'Leeds' (a fine city and my home) from the word 'United' (an indicator of supposed unity). I prescribe locking yourself in your front room, and repeat viewing of said presentation. remember. no matter what bbc radio leeds united tell you, they were fecking gutted at that result. also remember that there are more manchester united, chelsea and liverpool fans in leeds than leeds fans. I'm proud that I saw sense, moved away from the knuckle dragging morons, and supported Town. Don't tar us all with the same brush.

No Radio Leeds via Freeview for me in Lindley either, just BBC's York, Humberside, Sheffield and Lincolnshire! It SHOULD be going out on the PSB1 mux from Emley. Can ANYONE actually receive it, possibly they've knacked it with the current BBC rejigs that are in place to provide the enhanced Olympics coverage? I live in Mansfield and had to re-tune my Freeview last week; bizarrely, on 719 I now get Radio NORFOLK!!!!!!

I did further post registration there in Paediatrics. Great teaching hospital then but could wait to come home to Huddersfield.

What if you have Sky rather than Freeview? Is the only option to buy a DAB radio? In a similar position, I've got a very bad reception for TV & radio, can't get to FM radio only MW, so DAB no chance. Had to get Sky TV cos the reception is really poor / non existent at times. Woe is me, & it's all radio l***s' fault, Gareth Jones's in particular! Utt.

(Which is essentially why those of us outside of RL's broadcasting area are stuck with the over-priced, poorly run Town Player service...)

If only it were that simple. Haven't people already said that the DAB reception is variable, whether it be on the move (in cars) or depending on where you live?

The cost of the equipment isn't the issue, just can't get the reception. Oddly enough MW is fine...... Utt.

So that's £17 on top of the license fee to listen to commentary (if there's a signal) of my team that the other teams fans don't have to shell out. I have DAB (though not in the car) and Freeview anyway but generally choose not to listen cos Oggy does my head in but it's the principle that my team and my fellow Town fans are getting shafted by a shite radio station that probably most of us only listen too for Town stuff Sent from my SM-G900F using proboards

What if you have Sky rather than Freeview? Is the only option to buy a DAB radio? Town Player.... £4 a month. I can pick this up on my laptop or iPhone, so can listen anywhere. If I go to the pub tonight for an early one, I'll probably start listening to the Player commentary on the Town Square app as I walk the mile or so home. I can get a pretty good 4G data signal where I live now.

So it's either £4.50 a month/£38 a year for Town player or £20 or so for a DAB radio which you may or may not get any reception on. Why should Leeds and Bradford fans gets their radio commentary and pre/post match content included in the cost of their license fee but Town fans have to pay extra?

I have been known to get Radio Leeds at the M6/M61 junction when travelling so even if I had DAB in the car wouldn't stand a chance. Public Service Broadcasting by the BBC - NOT!

Why should Leeds and Bradford fans gets their radio commentary and pre/post match content included in the cost of their license fee but Town fans have to pay extra? The simple fact of the matter is, bearing in mind the issues various people have with accessing the various frequencies, the fair thing to do would be to rotate the clubs around the frequencies. If DAB is so great the Leeds and Bradford fans will have no issue with this approach so everyone will be happy wont they Radio Leeds? This approach will mean all license payers will be treated equally and nobody will be forced to update their equipment as long as they can handle being on DAB for the odd game. Makes perfect sense doesn't it? (unless of course, contrary to what is being pedalled, DAB is actually the least desirable medium and they don't want to risk upsetting their Leeds fans by dumping them on such an inaccessible frequency). Maybe whoever speaks to the boss next can suggest it, if what we've been told so far is true it wont be a problem and the Leeds fans will be delighted with the crystal clear sound of DAB.

I'm presently (7.15) on Radio Leeds DAB and all I'm getting is Kathryn Hannah (?) and Noel Whelan at Elland Road. What's going on?
Are we reduced to sharing pre and post match stuff with Leeds and Bradford now, as well? This is just getting better and better!

I do like to listen to the Leeds stuff post-match though - very entertaining.
