After the 3-4 Port Vale cup game in 2008, the next ghost that needs exorcising, for me and baby sapphire, is the 0-3 at Rochdale. 5th round Old Trafford next. 6th round Arsenal away after that. Was that the 3-0 on the Tuesday night? Yep. 2010

Dear Mr Wagner, Please take this 4th round as seriously as you see fit. We Town fans have seen so few matches against the top teams in the last 45 years that we are trying our best to get promoted so we can play them week in week out. We have had a terrible run, awful draws and feeble defeats for so long that getting to the premier league is a massive dream. We have been in the 5th round 7 times in 50 years, not great but not the worst. We haven't been in the top flight in my lifetime, beyond pitiful. There was every need to rest players for the Port Vale game, by the time we play Weds the other half of them will be 100% fresh and raring to go. There is also need to rotate players for the Rochdale so we give other players who will be crucial to our league run-in some valuable game time. Rochdale have won 6 straight so play the team that will get us into the hat fella BUT most importantly one that gives us the best chance of picking up points in the league. In anticipation, a promotion lover. Very cleverly written, however. I contend playing our best team against Rochdale gives us the best chance of continuing promotion form. Success breeds confidence, imagine playing a second string and going out. I simply cannot see how not taking the cup seriously harms our chances. Even if it did it would be a miniscule effect. The bookies have us at 7/1 for promotion, that means we are really 10/1. We dont have a game for a week after Rochdale...play the first team.

So we're not playing Brighton midweek the game after Rochdale then?

At least when they start singing about us all being drug dealers, we can raise it...

So we're not playing Brighton midweek the game after Rochdale then? A week later i believe? Even if it was 3 days later so what? Thats normal and preferable to training. I simply do not understand weakened teams for the likes of us with just 50 games a season.

No need to rotate though.

If we draw against Rochdale and then qualify for the 5th round of the FA Cup via replay, Town will be playing Saturday/Tuesday or Weekend/Midweek from the 28 Jan to 18 March. It's important, given our playing style and fitness requirements, to rest and rotate players. Town don't to weakened teams anymore, we won't be chucking in anyone who isn't ready for the first team, that is why we have two players for every position.

Anyone any idea when the ticketing information for the Rochdale tie is likely to be published?

Not me, I've not had a Town shirt for many years as I don't think they suit men in their 50's with shall we say 'relaxed stomach muscles'. Think there a few of us in the LS28 area, see a lad in ASDA now and again wearing a Town shirt.

Does anyone know when we're likely to find out what day this game is gonna be on? I stupidly volunteered to work on the Sunday!
