I'm trying to remember what it was like buying away tickets back in the old days - I'm sure the only way to do this was by contacting the other club , usually by letter.. and sending a cheque... I don't thinking about this...I don't ever remember buying a ticket, you just turned up at the away ground and handed over cash, and for some reason there was always enough room. Pretty sure it was cash on the door for the biggish cup games we had at Leeds Rd too.
First ticketed games I recall were the two visits to old Wembley, where the only option was to turn up and queue from a stupid hour, no priority arrangements I'm aware of, although I suspect the sneaky patrons got there's delivered by hand such as things were back then...but it was all part of the experience...get a mate to turn up with bacon butties after a couple of hours etc. Still feels a bit weird buying tickets for an away game today, I used to like the situation, where having decided not to go to a game, I'd get a call at 12 .."do you fancy a trip to Bolton", and be on our way an hour later. FA Cup 1966 first home game I remember being all ticket, inflated prices too, against the MASSIVE.

I can only ever remember two all ticket matches at Leeds Road Sheffield Wednesday in the Cup around 1966 (but don't forget they're MASSIVE) and, Blackpool for the last ever game (even then although we bought tickets, it may still have been pay on the day) I'm pretty certain I paid cash for Blackpool in the big terrace. Might have needed tickets for the stand (seated area) that day...is that where you were?

Pretty sure the play off game against Posh was too, maybe Arsenal cup game where Ian Wright destroyed us?..

Logged on at 9 bought 2 tickets.....simples 👍🤗 I go to the localish aways have had a sc for nearly 40 years & in b&w so to me I feel I deserve a ticket....sorry but so what if someone's been to every away game this season?....well done & credit to you but people can't always make away games in particular for genuine reasons. Like someone said for an extra £20 you could have been in top priority all season.....that's a lot jess than a years subscription to b&w. All this has rarely occurred this season anyway & all kicked off for Newcastle. Ps....I have 2 tickets for sale.....NOT 😜 Utt 🐶

The system suits more people than it does not, democracy and simplicity in action.. You'll have to explain this bit to me Galpharm. I'm a season Ticket holder (& thankfully Terrier on Tour member hopefully next Wednesday evening I'll view it as one of the best £20 I've ever spent - and even if we lose TBH for the peace of mind I've had all year it has already been well worth it) and nobody has EVER asked me what system I prefer. How do you know the system suits more people and where on earth does democracy come into it? As far as I can see it suits the club and that's all you can be sure of. PS Just for clarity I should state as I've done elsewhere the current position (with TOT) is a massive improvement on the position before where we had the BWF only (which was out of the price range of many).

Was always gonna be the case unfortunately. In a completely hypothetical situation i wonder if people would of been willing to give Wednesday the whole end and sacrifice the south stand at ours if we were to get both tiers at there's.

I vaguely remember queueing up at the window of the, erm, window place where Enterprise Rent A Car now is (or very close to there) to get a season ticket ahead of the move...not had a season ticket previously as I don't think I was even aware there was such a concept, bit don't remember getting ticket for Blackpool (although I suppose a mate might have sorted it all out, that's what tended to happen) Arsenal definitely wasnt as I was unable to get there in time for kick off but things changed on the day so I turned up.

Blackpool was definitely all ticket - I had to ask for clarification for bringing my 6 month old at the time and was told to buy an U-18 ticket to avoid refused admission while carrying her through the turnstile. To say I was miffed at the time was an understatement!

PS Just for clarity I should state as I've done elsewhere the current position (with TOT) is a massive improvement on the position before where we had the BWF only (which was out of the price range of many). away tickets and travel may well be out of the price range or ability of many B&W members?? TOT members may well be unable to afford tickets and travel to one or more or many away games?? The B&W foundation is not an exclusive club for the better off, or for those that WILL travel to all away games..This is proved many times when the sale of tickets continues past the first tiers.. What does suit more people is the paying of a monthly 'gift' to the Academy which brings an incentive.. This being more important to the club and therefore to us in running the same? Should the club bin the Academy then it seems fair then to re look at the system of away ticket allocation but the Season Card will still attract the club to 'incentivise' it over away stubs... I might be wrong but im not sure any club have an away travel section that would not prioritise home season ticket holders? Protecting your life blood seems 'fair'...

Jarvis has tweeted it's being looked into for next season. Know it doesn't help the frustrated ones, but at least something might now be done. When the Town on Tour system became available I immediately snaffled one of those for exactly this situation arising...priority. It was £20 but you got £1 off any official coach price to away games.. It was a great deal, and I'm glad I did it now I've got my away ticket sorted. Even the addition of B&W foundation and patrons to the top priority group didn't bother me even though it diminished my odds of securing a ticket. Everyone had a choice, but it was never part of the plan where fans going to most away games also get a priority. To complain about it all now, when you've known this all season, just sounds bloody churlish to me. You made a bad choice, don't blame the club for it, blame yourself.

Ps....I have 2 tickets for sale.....NOT 😜 Utt 🐶 The priority system has benefitted me this season because I've probably not been to enough away games to be in super priority if they were to introduce points etc. However, whilst I've been fine for Wednesday tickets, I feel a little harsh on those who've been away all season and missed out here - I do actually feel that they deserve first choice. Those people are likely the ones who've been to the most games (home and away combined) all season and therefore they've given the most direct support - financially and physically. For me, that deserves priority on what's now our biggest game of the season. I don't blame the club for not having the system in place because it's been unnecessary up to now, and likely costly, but I'm not sure I agree with your views here.

The harsh reality is, if the Club has been given 2,000 tickets and more than 2,000 want one, someone is going to be disappointed. If it's you I'm sorry, but if it hadn't been you it would have been someone else no matter what complicated and time consuming system is in place.
I get a bit fed up with folk slagging off the Club for something they can't control. The current system may not suit everyone, but it's a hell of a lot better than some of the hare brained schemes some people on here come up with.
PS Why do we say 'hare brained schemes', does anyone know it's origin?

I've heard that Canalside has sold out too It has been sold out to the priority members only with car suspension issues from the potholes on the driveway as proof of attendance throughout the season.

PS Why do we say 'hare brained schemes', does anyone know it's origin? Having or showing little sense; foolish: a harebrained scheme. Usage Note: The first recorded use of harebrained dates to 1548. The spelling hairbrained also has a long history, going back to the 1500s when hair was a variant spelling of hare. The hair variant was preserved in Scotland into the 1700s, and as a result it is impossible to tell exactly when people began writing hairbrained in the belief that the word means "having a hair-sized brain" rather than "with no more sense than a hare." While hairbrained continues to be used, the standard spelling of the word is harebrained.

How many does that venue hold? Will they be selling tickets for it? Yes, but they go on sale first to season ticket holders, who are also B&W foundation members, and those that have parked at Canalside more than 12 times this season. I'm queuing up now.
